Synex Controls (www.synexcontrols.com), the industry-leading developer of heat transfer control products, has been named the recipient of a grant to support its newest ‘green technologies’ projects.

The Syracuse (New York) Center of Excellence (CoE) and CenterState Corporation for Economic Opportunity (CEO) announced on January 27 that five companies have received Commercialization Assistance Program (CAP) awards to promote the commercialization of innovative green and clean technologies.

Synex Controls will receive $50,000 through the program.

The Commercialization Assistance Program (CAP) has awarded more than $1.3 million and supported the growth and success of 26 upstate New York companies. It is funded by a grant secured by New York State Assemblyman William Magnarelli, and is administered through Syracuse CoE and CenterState CEO.

CAP grants are awarded for projects that commercialize new products and services in the three focus areas of the Syracuse CoE: indoor environmental quality, water resources, and clean and renewable energy.

"In 2001, when the Commercialization Assistance Program was first initiated to encourage innovation, product development and entrepreneurship in the field of indoor quality, we were confident that this matching fund program would fuel technology development, job creation and thereby strengthen our local economy," said Assemblyman Magnarelli. "I am pleased that we are able to point to this program and see so many successes."

To date, CAP has been instrumental in the creation or retention of 152 jobs and $392.5 million in new revenue for Upstate New York companies.

"Our Commercialization Assistance Program is a key element of our efforts to create jobs in Central New York by accelerating innovations focused on energy-efficient and high-performance technologies into the marketplace," said Ed Bogucz, Syracuse CoE Executive Director.

This grant will provide Synex Controls with added potential to gain a foothold in the competitive energy management market, according to Synex Controls Business Manager Joel Southwell.

“Synex will continue to champion regional economic development along with offering products capable of making a significant impact on the energy costs and efficiencies of municipal, commercial, and industrial facilities,” Southwell said.
