The Goal: A Process of Ongoing Improvement
I have nothing to do with production, other than stand back and marvel whenever I visit a factory, but this book is on a recommended reading list that I'm working through and I read it with curiosity at first, and then with complete attention. It's about a factory manager who has several months to put his plant right, or the bosses over him will close the place and put lots of people out of work. The author chose to tell the technical details of how our hero did all of this through the tool of a novel, and it's a good one. If you have anything to do with manufacturing you will profit from this book, and if you just watch (like me), you'll come away with a deep appreciation for all that goes on within a successful plant. Great stuff between these covers.
