He’s the one writer that can instantly throw me into
hysterical fits of laughter. This book is no exception. In this
adventure, he takes off with his friend Katz (his companion on an
earlier trip through Europe) in an attempt to walk the entire
Appalachian Trail. Katz is an out-of-shape, middle-aged, slob, and
Bryson doesn’t look much better at the start. His commentary on their
adventures along the way is absolutely priceless. It will make you
laugh with delight. It will teach you things you never knew about this
country. And it will make you feel as if you had made the journey
yourself. Don’t miss it.
