One of them sent me a book afterward and told me it was
an excellent history of Western Montana’s early settlers. I wrote and
thanked him for thinking of me, and then I put the book on the stack. I
have this really big stack of books to read. I’ll never live long
enough to get to the bottom of it, but that’s the way it should be with
books. The book finally worked its way to the top and when I began
reading, the memories of my trip to Montana came flooding back. But
this wonderful novel is so much more than an early history of Western
Montana. This is a piece of writing that will move you and haunt you.
It woke me on more than one night and had me staring at the ceiling,
nearly in tears. This is just such a beautifully crafted story. It’s
about life, and love, and I can’t recommend it enough. Give yourself a
present and savor this book.
