Nowadays, he runs the Apartment House Institute (a
division of New York City Technical College) and he is one of the best
all-around heating people I know. Dick used to edit, along with the
legendary Clifford Strock, a magazine called "Air Conditioning,
Heating, and Ventilation." When I was writing my book, "The Lost Art of
Steam Heating," Dick called and asked if I would be interested in the
files of the late, great Mr. Strock. I, of course, said YES! and
immediately drove into Manhattan to pick up a van-load of boxes. It
took me months to go through all of Mr. Strock's collection. Much of
what I found there (original trade-journal articles from the Twenties
and Thirties) wound up in "Lost Art." This man was a world-class saver!
When he and Dick sat down to edit the "Handbook" they put just about
everything you would EVER want to know about air conditioning, heating,
and ventilating into it. This is an incredible source book, and it's
one you should consider adding to your library.
