I started it just before we went to visit her in
Ireland some months later, and finished it afterwards. It's a gem. Pete
McCarthy is right up there with Bill Bryson when it comes to travel
writing. This book is so funny and he made me feel like I was right
there with him as he traveled the west of Ireland. He ends the book on
his way back to England, at the Forty Foot, a place in Dublin where men
swim year round, in the nude, in ridiculously cold water. How come?
Because they always have. We were there at the Forty Foot. McCarthy
captures the madness, and the sweetness, of the place perfectly. This
is a really good book and I think you'll like it a lot.
