That means you have to rip out EVERYTHING that was
installed during the past 100 years, and then you have to find
gaslights and a cast-iron range, and an old bathtub, and so much more.
Then you go out and get a family (400 families actually volunteered for
this!) that will live in the 1900 House for three months, using only
the tools, and eating only the foods, that were available during the
Victorian Era. No refrigeration. No safety razors. No shampoo. Very
little hot water (and those range boilers often exploded). No cars. No
phones. It's like Gilligan's Island with a corset. Simply marvelous
stuff here, and a heck of an educational experience. I LOVE old houses
and old mechanical systems, and this program gave me so much insight
into those times. You won't believe what these people had to go through
(especially the teenagers). This is a program you will watch again and
again.
