I thought the book was better than the movie because
the movie stops with the New York draft riots (which are painstakingly
recorded in the book), while the book continues on into the Twenties.
Lots of insights into New York City politics and tales of bad guys (and
gals) that will make your skin crawl. Herbert Asbury wrote this book in
1927. A very good read!
