Rick is a welder and the stories he tells are both
funny, touching and utterly spellbinding. Jack wrote in his letter to
me, "Rick started out as a journeyman boilermaker and then he says he,
'got stupid,' He went on to get his journeyman's license in
high-pressure welding. He always says to me, 'Jack, the old guys always
said I would be sorry I became a welder, and you know what? They were
right!' However, as time does not stand still for any of us, he got
tired of being away from home and decided he had to find a new line of
work. So he became a self-employed refrigeration, heavy-industrial
sales agent. He always threatened to write the story of the polar bear
for some outdoors magazine, and he finally did. He says he received
$175 and an author was born. Rick said it beat welding and you could do
it in a warm place with the light on." I loved this book. It's about
work under the most difficult circumstances I can imagine. I think
you'll love it too. Highly recommended!
