    which new indirect water heater

installing a new heating system & they are proposing a phase III smart indirect heater, any advice on this one or maybe another brand that would be a better fit. 2 1/2 baths, 1 whirlpool tub,5 people in home. Thanks

    phase 3 smart 50 gallon with a Prestige 110

I have been running this combo for a couple weeks now in my new house. It seems to work very well filling a big 6'x3' bubble tub. I do run the tank on a low DHW setting 120ish because I have small kids so the tub does empty it, however the recovery is very quick(scary quick if your used to dirrect fired heaters), I don't think I will ever have a problem even on the low setting. However using a higher temp and a mixing valve will really give you allot more capacity. On the boiler side I am very happy with the 110 so far the control is great.

    An Indirect is an Indirect

As a water heater is a water heater. The all have just about the GPH ratings. Look at warranty that would be in the only difference the rest comes down to contractor comftablity in installation.. The question you should be asking is what size and do I use priority or not..At the btu rating you state you better be using priority controls and atleast a 60 Gal if not an 80 Gal based on your high dump load.

I'm leaning toward the 60 gal. tank,I thought you would always use the prority set up. Is there any reason not to? As far as tanks go It's seem that most have a 10-12 year life, is this correct or what could I use to get better results without selling off a kid or 2.

    Indirects

I've started using the Burnham SL ( Stone Lined ) tanks, really good tank for the money, you can get the optional lifetime warranty very reasonably

    depends on the DHW pattern

usually run 2/3 showers back to back in AM, tub is only used 1/2 weekly. Right now we use a 40 gal stand alone gas heater, it will handle 2 showers, but the tub will never quite fill with enough hot water.

How does the Super Store match up?

depends on your DHW use patterns

5 showers in a row? How often is the tub flled? Will you have more than one hw demand at once? I installed a Laars Mascot for my in-laws. With just a plate HX built in (no storage) it can easily keep up with a 2.75 gpm shower head. Or the dishwasaher and wash machine running together. In my home an 80K Knight connected to an old 32 gallon Phase 3 provides endless showers also. I'd be more in favor of training the family to live within the capacity of that 78K boiler you have. Give them 120, or 180 gallons and they may use every drop and ask for more :) hot rod

I like the SuperStor because it has a bottom drain. Works well for me.. just a HO here.

You should always go with the same as the boiler if they make one. It makes a lot nicer job
