What is the best method to determine if you have an inaccurate boiler temperature gauge and/or a defective Aquastat?
My bolier will cycle on for a call to heat even when the bolier temp gague says 195 and the Aquastat hi - low setting is 180 and 160 with 20 degree diff.
Thanks. I'm a little concerned since on my hydro air system the air handlers are rated for 180 max. Since the Aquastat is covered under my bolier maint contract I'll probably just call the oil company that services the bolier.
I hope your oil co is better than mine. My Tridicator and Aquastat were just fine. Ended up replacing them myself. The tridicator was reading way over I was told. After replacing it (20 bucks and 1/2 hours work) I discovered it was indeed reading a bit over but not way over. I dialed down the aquastat to 145 to get it to shut off at 180. A new digital aquastat was installed (150 bucks and 1 hours labour) and voila, no more problems. The tridicator and aquastat match exactly and no more banging pipes.
