    hydronic hammer

hydronic system with single pump on return and 4 zone valves on supply. get hammer in pipe lines. System has expansion tank. Will a differential bypass valve help? System serves basement zone (boiler location), first floor, second floor and attic room( 25 ft. from top of boiler to attic radiation. System consists of both radiators and baseboard. Have no air problems.

once the zone valves close is there any place for the water to go.if not yes a differential bypass should work. also make sure the zone valves are installed in the proper direction of flow. flow going oppposite could cause the valve to slam shut when in the near to close position.

If These Are Spring Closing Valves Such As Honeywells...I Have Removed One Of The Two Springs To Slow Down The closing Of Valve. Circulator On Supply And Zone Valves On Returns Would Have Been A Beter Way To Install And Avoid "Water Hammer"
