Should it stay or go? -
Stay or Go
In the past (previous version of the web site), it was not heavily trafficed either, but some photos of really awful installations were shown. I thought they were useful examples of what not to do.
Does it cost a lot to keep it? I do not specifically mean costing money, but excess space on the Ask Questions page and possible reader confusion. -
The old site didn't have a special section for this.
My concern was that it was just taking up space and serving little purpose. I'll leave it for a while and we'll see. Thanks.
It's also possible that no one is seeing horrible work these days. Hmm. -
No Dan bad work still Exists...
I think the problem is that after I visit a nightmare job or estimate, I usually do not snap pics unless it is so appalling or was an obvious danger to the customer. Even then, it is time consuming enough to correct the problems let alone post pics and comment on the problem I have fixed. Do not take this as "dump" this topic for I think in time it will come into it's own and perhaps be very useful as just FYI or Like stated above, what not to do or "watch out for this".

There is no lack of
horrible installs . Trust me ..........
This one was a few weeks ago . I had to fully dismantle the heater to even attempt removing the boiler . I have no idea how anyone worked on this system . The boiler and heater were pinned against the wall and each other . -
It should stay!
It may get less traffic, but especially for the DIY'er, examples of how NOT to do something are often just as helpful as examples of how to do it right. And for the pros, it simply has to simultaneously be entertaining and exasperating.
....plus it surely must inspire the pros that there are plenty of maintenance and replacement jobs out there to be had, along with new installs :)
AlJust a DIY'er trying to learn, and improve and maintain his converted ca 1929 overhead gravity hot water system since there is no one local that can. -
yeah,
keep it. It's a good source of pictures for our next tech meeting. -
the worst team boiler I ever ran into
See my article in this months Oil Heating magazine or stop by my site, www.spectralenergysolutions.com, I tried to attach it here, but it won't accept it.
The thing I found most disturbing,( besides the condition of the boiler, the home was still standing, etc) was after many many recalls no one in management from the company that "was" servicing the account got involved. They kept sending techs out for the same problem, over and over. -
That's because
you can't fix stupidity! They deserved to lose that customer.Steam, Vapor & Hot-Water Heating

Stay
Stay, Stay, STAY!
The pics are priceless, and maybe will help the new to the trade, have some craftmenship, which I see as lacking more and more. Get it done fast and cheep, is the sad but true watchword in some companys now.
That's all I have to say about that!
And thanks for comming to ND, Dan!
