Hotter than HELL!!
Look what my brother found at his girls friends vacation home...
The wall behind the boiler is an ICF wall.
In one of the pictures, you can see where the wire to the high limit melted off. I think that is what saved the house.
No one was home at the time, but the boiler had JUST been worked on by a local service company.
His girl friend said she didn't want to pursue the contractor because of bad karma. I told him he should still allow the contractor to come by and look at it so he can learn what he did wrong, and doesn't do it again.
An LWCO WILL BE ADDED TO THE NEW CONFIGURATION...
Ugly stuff eh...
MEIt's not so much a case of "You got what you paid for", as it is a matter of "You DIDN'T get what you DIDN'T pay for, and you're NOT going to get what you thought you were in the way of comfort". Borrowed from Heatboy. -
China syndrom
Mark,
What do you suppose started the chain of events culminating in what looks like the conversion to the 'open pit' home heating system ???
Will you or your brother be posting the "after" pictures also ?
Thanks for that post

Not sure for sure....
But my brother is an expert witness for numerous legal firms, so I am SURE he will figure it out. And I will ask him to take some pictures when he's done.
He's going back in with a TT wall hung beast.

Scary...
I see something like that and all I can do is think of my kids.
Glad it was caught before it "caught"
That indeed was a low water situation?"If it were easy, they would have called it PV" -
Had to be
every dry-fired steamer I've seen had similar scorching.Steam, Vapor & Hot-Water Heating

Remember not to burn yourself
Things that are not ordinarily hot can give you a burn if you've shut one of these down recently.
I just looked at a dry fired steamer a couple of days ago and the floor in front of the boiler was certainly hotter than I expected it to be!
At least there weren't any spray paint cans etc. in the same room. Phew.
