Water storage tank for hot water boiler

Is this a good idea?? I am getting a mix of opinions, mostly that a water storage tank is a waste of money and energy. I have an old Climatrol with 6 large cast iron sleves that I want to replace. It must hold at least 30 gallons of water in the boiler itself. What if I create a separate tank that will be attached to a new hydronic boiler, keep this water temp at 140 degrees, then pump water to the radiators right from the tank as needed? Any opinions?

    Seems to me...

that you will lose heat from that storage tank -- no matter how good your insulation -- and that you will gain very little in terms of response time.  So why bother?

    multifunctional buffer tank

I like the idea of a buffer tank for hydraulic separation dirt and air separation   there are many reasons and applications to consider the proper use of a buffer tank.   Gerry Alder                  [url=http://www.pmmag.com/Articles/Column/7b4f1edc2471b010VgnVCM100000f932a8c0]http://www.pmmag.com/Articles/Column/7b4f1edc2471b010VgnVCM100000f932a8c0____
