Boiler estimate from 1938
Dan,
I have a customer in Thomaston CT, They have a boiler house that has 3 Bigelow Boilers with Ray oil burners. (The building was once Seth Thomas Clocks, a lot of history in the building) Running on #6 fuel oil. The boilers and burners are in the 1920-1930 era. They are still original and still run. They are steam fire tubeboilers with brick fireboxes. They use the steam for a platting operation and for heating the building. They are the biggest and oldest I have ever seen. I preform service for the company when the boilers go down or need adjustment. Another company does the anual cleaning of the fire tubes. They are currently converting the building to gas unit heaters.
When I first started servicing the boilers the maintenance man brought me to a file cabinet in the boiler room. He said we had to go to the clasic literature section. There I found a Ray oil burner manuel. I use this for setting up damper linkage and oil pump pressures.
Anyway. I was at the facility on Friday looking for the Ray Burner manuel and I came across an original copy estimate from the Babcock & Wilcox Co( 85 Liberty ST New York, NY). dated 1938 for boiler repacement with coal firing. It was on onion paper and still in great shape. I had the maintance man make me a photo copy and I have scanned the image and wanted to give you a copy.
If you are ever up this way I can take you by to see the boiler room.
I posted this in this section because I didn't know were else to post to.
Enjoy.

Wonderful!
Thanks, Gary. It's now a part of the Library and much appreciated. Thanks.

Just wondering on that name
I loved the line " Attention Mr. A.S. Goodenough" What are the odds of that being a real name. I think I worked beside some guys who should have had that name. Thanks for sharing this blast from the past.Cost is what you spend , value is what you get. -
