    Zone valves better on return?

Are zone valves better on the return than on the supply?

    I've found.

No significant difference on any jobs I've done, although I like to keep zone valves on the suction side of the pump to reduce noise on closing. And if you pump on the supply, they'll always be on the return.

Thank you, I think I will put my new setup that way.

    I prefer the supply side.....

...... if for no other reason than to assure there is no migration flow in the "off" zones.  If I were to put them on the return side, I would either use thermal traps or checks on each supply.
