    Slow posts and other things..

Dan, I've noticed a large number of double posts recently, including myself. ;-)

I think it comes from when a person is posting something, and after they hit the SUBMIT POST button, nothing happens immediately like it use to, so the poster assumes it didn't go through, and clicks on SUBMIT POST again, or three times, and then a whole bunch of posts with the same header suddenly appear. I don't know enough about web works to say one way or another, but I think it is that lag that is causing issues.

I guess the question is, is the lag a necessary part, or is the server just running slow due to content?

Also, love the math problem for the security, and again, I don't know if it is costing you any money or band width, but the pop down menu that pops down when you begin to answer the math problem is unnecessary.

Thanks again for all you and TLM do.

It's not so much a case of "You got what you paid for", as it is a matter of "You DIDN'T get what you DIDN'T pay for, and you're NOT going to get what you thought you were in the way of comfort". Borrowed from Heatboy.

is the lag a necessary part

I do not think the lag is a necessary part of this service, but the cause may not be at the Wall Server. In my experience with the Internet, it can be there, but it is, more often, in the Web itself (the link between the Wall Server and your Internet Service Provider. Also, if you are still on dial-up, the delay can be in the link between your ISP and your computer. Still another delay is in your (and my) computer because the page that you compose the messages in seems to be driven by a Java program, and Java runs slowly on my machine even thought it has 8GBytes of RAM and two 3.06 GigaHertz Hyperthreaded Xeon processors.

If the Java program is modified so that when you press the Submit Post, the button is then grayed out, it would stop that kind of multiple submission.

"Also, love the math problem for the security, and again, I don't know
if it is costing you any money or band width, but the pop down menu

Not only unnecessary, but a distraction.

I don't think it is my PC either...

If I go to hotmail, a typical SUPER content rich web site, I get connected immediately.

Even when I am first going to HH, it lags...... and lags....... and lags.

Maybe it is the cable between there and here, or here and there :-)

    Dirty fiber optics? Got Windex?

    What I'm seeing.

It loads in less than three seconds from the time I click the go button. Our site is hosted by Rackspace and it's on its own server with an unlimited amount of space (they charge accordingly, of course). I've never experienced the lag you're describing. Not sure what's going on. Let's hear from others.

    Sorry for the inconvenience.
