    radiant floor heat?

    I live in Long Island, NY in  a 1930 house  and am in the middle of a remodel. Am now thinking of radiant floor heat. Will this work well? I have 2 stories with hardwood floors throughout. I would be putting  pex in the joists with the aluminum heat shields. Am concerned over the wood floor though. Will this cause the wood to buckle?

    No,, radiant does not add-to humidity.
    What you are doing is turning the available floor space into a giant radiator to heat the room above. The lower the floor temp you need(given by the area & H/L required), the better the efficiency you`ll get from the boiler.
    Have it engineered for you!

    Buckled Floors

    What causes floor damage is the lack of doing a radiant heatloss and design. As Dave said. Have one done. Might cost you but is worth every cent.

    type of wood

    Be sure your flooring supplier is aware of radiant heating.  Most will recommend using quarter cut wood which will expand vertically, instead of horizontally.
