blooper section
how about a section where we can post bloopers and blunders that we have commited over the years. the purpose would be for a few good laughs and maybe to learn from each others mistakes. i think that it should be limited to bloopers made by the poster, not other peoples mistakes. e.g. when i first started out i was told about the importance of cleaning both the fitting and the pipe before soldering. i dutifully took my 4 in 1 soldering brush and cleaned the inside of the fitting. when i was done with the fitting i took the pipe and proceeded to clean the INSIDE of the pipe. after struggling to turn the brush for a few minutes the brush was 100% stripped.after some very frustrating momentsĀ the ridiculousness of my bloopers hit me like a cold shower on a January day. anyway just some food for thought -
blooper
by the way i still have the soldering brush -
I got a blooper I remember well
Da sent me into the kitchen of the new duplex to cut the cold water pipe off, ream it and sand it then put on the angle stop. Making sure to clean it and flux it as I had been instructed. Getting bored waiting for my father to come back in as he was talking to my uncle who was building the home I decided to take the bull by the horns and get this project moving along by doing the same for the hot water side. Being rather new to the trade I felt like I was going to get lots of praise as I carefully caught the water dripping in a bucket as I was cutting of the stub out. The dripping got faster as I continued to cut. then as I was almost done the end of the pipe flew across the new kitchen with 70 psi behind it and lots of water. Being 5 and weighing about 60 pounds I had some trouble holding the water in the pipe as I yelled for my father to shut the water off. I learned that day to also double check if the pipe I was cutting into was live or shut off. 33 years later I can still see it clearly.Cost is what you spend , value is what you get. -
Good idea.
Here's your section. Let's see how it goes. This should be fun. Thanks! -
