Aw Jeez, where to start....
I could probably write a book of all the bloopers in my career.
There was the first time my brother and I had installed a solar DHW system in Denver. We were contact by a solar contractor who was not licensed to do business in Denver, and they hired us to do the pipe work between the collectors and the aux. system. We got the solar loop piped the first day, and being plumbers, didn't think it was necessary to pressure test the line before pumping glycol in.
The next day, when we returned to finish the potable side of things, as we were walking through the garage, where we had run the lines the day before, there was a puddle on the floor. "Oh no!" I said out loud. Reached down and put my finger into it to taste it to confirm it was glycol, and just as I stuck my finger in my mouth, something else caught my attention out of the corner of my eye. It was a dog turd...
I spit my finger out of my mouth so hard I almost dislocated my shoulder. My brother, and the young German Shepherd puppy were BOTH rolling on the floor, laughing themselves to tears. It wasn't glycol. It was dog pee.
Every since then, I've ALWAYS done a pressure test, and I quit doing the human glycol meter testing thing...
