Heat-reflective roofs - prevented by NIMBYs

Really astonishing that people are prevented by local codes and ordinances from doing simple, cheap things to reduce energy consumption!!

Especially given availability of 'smart' paints specifically designed to reflect heat and minimise solar gain for at least the last 10 years (there's a type that includes glass microspheres with very bold claims).

It's an association. Having everything looking just right is number one with them. They have to be kicked and dragged to understand anything else.

Glad I don't have an association to deal with!
