problem with a Honeywell fan control

Hi, need help!!  I have a Burnham direct vent gas boiler with a Weil- Mclain gold plus hot water expansion tank .
The transformer  on the Fan relay assembly, R8285D 5001  burned out. I replaced the assembly only to have the new transformer heat up and burn out in about 30 seconds, right before my eyes (saw the puff of smoke).
Circulator continues to pump cold water through the expansion tank. Of course the boiler never comes on.
    There are no visable defects.
    thank you.

    That relay

has N/O contacts, so if there is not a 24V signal (to the coil within the relay) your circ should not operate.
Contact 4&6 have a different amp rating, so they should be used for the 24V side.
Contact 1&3 is used for the 120V circ.
Be careful the wiring doesn`t get screwed-up. ;-)

    burnt xformer

Possible the xformer is undersized. But ,I,would add an inline fuse or circuit breaker, then ,use an ampmeter /multimeter  to track down the cause of the problem.I do have a smoke catcher  for sale!!
