Question
My very old oil fired boiler has 2 adjustments. 1 for the boiler temp and 1 for the circulator. Is 180 for the boiler and 160 for the circulator good settings? I had them at 170/145 before and it wasn't warm enough.
what control
model do you have? Those settings sound good. Does this boiler also have a tankless coil that provides your hot water? The 180 would be the high limit setting, and the 160 would be the low limit. If you have a tankless, the low limit temp setting is what it will maintain. The hi limit temp setting is what The boiler will end up at the end of a heat cycle. That is what will increase your baseboard output temps.

Its a Weil Mclain and is very old, at least 50 year old boiler don't know about the oil burner itself.
It does have a tankless coil that preheats the water some before it goes into my electric hot water heater in the winter when I run the boiler.

Another thing is. Since I replaced the flow control valve, some pipes rattle and bang in the basement after they heat up and cool down. Could that be air in the pipes yet. I bleed all the radiators.
