venting capacity of 1/8"?
does anyone know the venting capacity of 1/8" pipe? thanks. i know 1/2" = about 8 gorton #1's. and 1/2" has internal area of 0.196 vs 1/8" with internal area of 0.012
is my math the correct when i say that 0.012/0.196 = 0.06 or 6% and therefore 1/8" = about 6% of 8vents = 0.48 gorton #1's? that doesn't make any sense .. since a Gorton 1 = a gorton D and we have gorton Ds on 1/8" all the time,

According to Balancing Steam Systems
A book I highly recommend just for the venting chart alone. The rest is a bonus. It is 1.2 cfm @ 1 o.z.Cost is what you spend , value is what you get. -
thanks
I do have the book. unfortunately I didn't look thee

1/8"=gorton#2
1/8" pipe vents 1.2 cfm at 1 oz. Gorton#2 vents 1.1 cfm at 1 oz. I have put gorton#2 in 1/8" tapping with decent amount of success(3-4 min to end of main). -
that's what....
I ended up doing.. 1 piece of gorton# 2 on 1/8 th tap. I intend to install 2 pieces on each 6th floor convector in a building with other problems they are unable to address currently. the resident had more heat with a single # 2 when I left than when she woke up, and the whistling has subsided a great deal compared to the gorton 6 that was on.
