    Best Warranty/Least Maintenance?

We need to replace an OLD Burham gas boiler. Looking at Triangle Tube Solo 110 but wonder about high annual maintenance and the warranty (One year on parts/ten year LIMITED on boiier). What does limited mean? What's really covered?

Our back-up is to go with an old school, simple, cast iron Burham boiler system.

Our home is two-level with about 2200 sq. ft. in the metro DC area.

    Any opinions, advice, thoughts, suggestions?

    Most important thing

is the installer and their ability to determine heat loss, sizing and all the things that must be done up front and then a quality job on the install with follow up to do annual service.

You will find many the real pros who post here each have their favorite boiler and can certainly give you all the info you will need.

The truth is all of the new equipment oil or gas requires a lot of knowledge to install and service. Equipment is not cheap and neither are parts no matter whether you go Mod?Con or lower mid efficiency packages they all are complicated and parts are not always readily available. There also is just about no interchangeability with thew new units versus the old.

    Warranty

Take a look at the Viessmann Vitodens 100. Very simple condesing boiler with a very basic outdoor reset control. Great little boiler for a fin-tube baseboard or cast iron one temp job. Has the ability to provide domestic priority if needed. The radial heat exchanger which is 316 Ti Stainless has been around for many many years. Boiler has a 2 year parts and limited lifetime on the heat exchanger. Same type of warranty as a cast iron boiler. Boiler is very clean with minimal service parts and easy access for maintenace.

Attached is some info and the warranty.

    TT Prestige solo boiler

get your contractor to sell you the 10 year parts and labor warranty offered through triangle tube. will take care of any parts and labor issues that come up for 10 years. this extended warranty does not cover yearly maintenance costs. no extended warranty will cover annual maintenance costs.   limited 10 year warranty is to the first original owner of the boiler.

    State rebates

Are you sure that boiler is the best option? In what part of DC is the house located? In NE and NW, tankless water heater might be a good option.

Also, DC offers $300 rebates for the installation of electric heat pump water heaters.

There is no way to know for how long the funds will be available, so check availability more often.
