    Inefficient compressor

What are the signs of a imefficient compressor??

    Typically.

Abnormally high suction, and low discharge. The compression ratio will be very low.

If you suspect a weak compressor, you should pump down the unit to a low number on the suction side and watch the gauge for any movement. If a valve is bad, the pressure will feed back and the low side will rise.

    Inefficient comp

The leaking back of hi press to the low side is true w/ leaking/bad discharge reeds . What about bad/leaking suction reeds? Is this a scroll or a recip comp?

I've been told not to pump down using scroll compressors.

    scroll pumpdown

You can pump down a scroll as long s you do not pump it down into a vaccum.I herd if you pump it down into a vaccum it could arc and cause a burnout.

    Scroll pumpdown

There is a trick to a Scroll pumpdown, though!Out of the "box" a Scroll cannot be used on a pumpdown.
