Help me raise an Eagle
My godson, Andrew Leich, is one of the finest young men I know and he's working to become an Eagle scout, which is a very tough thing to do. He gives me hope in a troubled world. Here he is:
Hi All,
My name is Andrew Leich and I am a Life Scout from Troop 351. Recently, I started working on my Eagle Scout project and am looking for monetary donations to help get things moving. I have taken the opportunity to help my church by renovating one of the main rooms. The Eagle Scout project will take place at St. John’s Lutheran Church.
Specifically, the project will pertain to a room inside the church known as “the Fellowship Hall.” This room, after years of strenuous use, has degraded in many of its aspects, such as the walls and floor. It is my intention to fully restore this room, and make it available for use by the church and all the groups that meet there. However, this is not an easy task, as in order to fully restore the room, it will take close to $4000. With your help and support, I will be able to re-paint and re-floor the entire room. Any contribution would be greatly appreciated.Thank You,
Andrew Leich

I've attached a PDF description of Andrew's project. It's one that would make any trades person proud.
I'm collecting donations to help with this project. If you can help, please go to PayPal and use the Send Money button, along with my email address: mailroom@heatinghelp.com, to donate any amount you can swing.
I appreciate you. Thanks.

Thanks.

A big THANKS! to a very generous Denise McMillen,
who wrote, "Dear Andrew Leich, I hope this helps you on your mission to fix St. John's fellowship hall."
Thanks for seeing the positive side of today's young people, and for helping Andrew help others.

Thank You
Hi Everyone,
Thanks for taking the time to read this thread and learn about my Eagle Project. A very big thanks for my first donation as well. I thought I'd take take the time to keep you updated on what I've been doing for my Eagle so that everyone is well informed. Today I went out and was pleased to find that many of the local delis and bagel shops in my area are willing to donate food; and with help of the first donation here, I have reached $905 towards the floor. Thank you all for your continued support, and I will continue to update you in the future.
Thanks,
Andrew Leich

Great to see you here, Andrew!
Tell them the story about what happened at Lowes. -
At Lowes
Well, when walking into Lowes, I didn't know what to expect (Not that you generally do when walking into most warehouse stores), so I proceeded to the customers service desk. Ironically, Jen (the assistant manager) was talking to her co-worker about donation forms and where they were stored when I walked up. Now normally I'd assume that I would get a gift card when soliciting for donations, yet to my surprise I was instructed to take a shopping cart and "go shopping." After the various paints, tapes, rollers, masks, and otherwise, I had a pretty full shopping cart. I was able to walk out of Lowes, that day, with just over $325 in supplies, and a major step ahead in my project.
Needless to say I was speechless. -
People are good.
So are the people in our tribe here. I'm sure more will help you.
Anyone like to step up and help Andrew fly? -
Kudos to Andrew!!
You can count me in, Dan! -
Thanks, Alan.
Anyone else? -

when I click on your link, "warning possible phishing sit" That might be intimidating some of your donations? Do you have another means for folks to donate, maybe a mailing address for the old fashioned, check writing types :)

Update
Hi Everyone,
Thanks so much for the contributions! I am pleased to announce that I just finished another required badge (Camping) and am one step closer to becoming an Eagle. I have to say, you guys are really making my day. Thank you all so much!
Andrew Leich -
Keep up the great work!
We're all very proud of you, Andrew. -
Here ya' go, Andrew.
Good luck, buddy. -
Thanks.
A good man stepping up to help a good young man. Never close the door to when you were young and needed someone to step up. Remember.
This is our next American generation.
Any more good men want to declare themselves here?
Thanks. -
Good Luck
Hope this helps. Its nice to see that some of the younger kids are being active in the community. -
Thank you, James.
You are a good friend. Thanks. -
Thanks for the opportunity............
Dan: I've been a disciple of yours since I attended one of your seminars a dozen or more years ago. The value of information I have gleaned from you and this fantastic forum far exceeds my small contribution, but it feels good to be able to give back; especially in support of someone who will no doubt be a life long contributor to our modern society. -
Thanks for getting it, Mike.
It's a metaphor, and you understand. Thanks. -
So far,
I have about $500 for Andrew so far. Thanks to those who have helped with this.
Anyone else? -
I'm in !!!
" A man never stands so tall as when he stoops to help a boy "
Words to live by, i have been involved with scouting groups for 12 yrs, to see the look in the eye of a boy when he is handed a certificate of Acomplishment is wonderful !
Eagle scout award will follow you the rest of your life.... You can do it !!
good luck

So true, David.
Thanks for caring, and for helping me when I asked. -
A Very Big Thank You
Hi All,
To everyone who has donated so far, I can't thank you enough. The funds for the church are coming along nicely, and I wouldn't be able to do it without you. Your support is what keeps this project going, and I thank you for your overwhelming generosity.
On a side note: Over the past few days I was able to complete two more of required badges, leaving only one left before I have completed them all.
Thank you all so much!
Andrew Leich -
Congratulations!
Keep up the great work, Andrew. -
Anyone else want to help?
Please. -
A buck?
That's not much. Please be a part of this. I know times are tough, but it feels good to rally around something and help a kid grow up the right way. It's what men do. -
That it?
Anyone else like to help Andrew? -
Here you go!
Here's something to help with the project!
You should be seeing it in PayPal soon!Eugene -
Thanks, Eugene!
You're always so generous. Thanks for helping us! -
Can't Thank You Enough
Hey All,
I had a great time with my godfather last night. I wanted to thank everyone who contributed thus far. You are a part of something very special. Only about 2% of all the Boy Scouts in the United States since 1911 have achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. Everyone who contributes is helping a great community project, and everyone who helps me will be listed in my Eagle Book, and acknowledged at my Eagle Scout Court of Honor. -
So proud of you, Andrew.
There are great people on this site who understand and appreciate hard work, and what it means to have, and achieve goals. Many of these people own their own businesses and they get what you are doing. I love you like my own son, but as I watch you become a man, I am even more proud of you. Thanks for working so hard, and for showing the world what an American boy can do with a little help from people who care about our future.
Thanks to everyone who gets it. -
eagle and onward.......
Dan and Andrew,
Taco and the White Family Foundation will gladly jump in here to help in any way we can.
There are a couple of things that cross my mind:
1) Young people who strive for the Eagle status generally are winners, with a sense of achievement and accomplishment. These are people who can be really valuable to all of us, and can be an inspiration to the not-so-inspired, if that makes sense.
2) In times like these, when the economy is bad and things are uncertain, people tend to develop a bunker mentality, and slow way up on giving. These are the times when help is so appreciated and needed, more so than in good and easy times.
I hope you are able to complete your goals, and continue to find people to help.
Happy Labor Day to all!!!
Johnny -
Johnny, thanks.
Thanks to the White Family Foundation and to you personally for such a generous donation. You see what I'm seeing in young people such as Andrew. They are our future.
You and Taco are always there for a friend, Johnny. I appreciate that so much. Thanks.
Will anyone else join us in this? We're close to the finish line. Thanks. -
