    sounds like

they now have someone who wants to service it right.  Did the boiler have an auto feed or did someone have to manually add water? Could it have run low or dry fired?

    This reminds me...

I need to buy a PH meter.

It probably goes without saying that you'll be checking EVERYTHING before installing a new boiler.

Water quality, fresh water usage, steam leaks, proper piping, etc...

Can't wait to hear what the problem is. Want to avoid that myself!

    Uhhhh, wait a minute

    this is a WGO-5?

    On a STEAM system?

Shouldn't it be an SGO-5? Or better yet, a MegaSteam 513 or 629?

    WGO-5

Good of you to notice Steaner, and a WGO-5 doesn't have a tapping on the back. Only the SGO has one on the bottom back. How in the heck did they pipe that? I would really like to see pictures of thet.

    Have another one

    cause you still remember it's a Weil-McLain ;-)

I agree, take some pics and post them. There has to be a reason those sections are cracking, and the piping might have something to do with it.

Also, is the burner properly set up and does it have the right nozzle? Is there a target wall at the back of the firing zone?

  • Reciever

If your cond reciever was constantly being fed fresh cold water and if the feed line to the boiler has not been throttled properly, it could very easily cold shock the boiler when the pump kicks on.  Remember those pumps, when not throttled, can kick out alot of water into a low pressure boiler.

    Waiting For Section

Will put up pics when I go back. Reciever is a reciever only W/Float. VXT? Water Feeder waits10 mins unless float on reciever is full powering pump, on reciever, filling boiler with condensate. :-) BYOB
