    9500 series gas valves

Today had a no heater on a forced air mid, icp 1996. Unit not lighting, combo igniter/ flame rod shot. Replaced, unit fired up, hsi glowing red hot and ..bang piloit and main valve open at the same time. Scared the hell out of this old oil burner man. I tried her a few more times and every time samething, pilot and main valve come on at the same time. I;ve seen this a few times in my life. The unit was likly running like this for a while, i replace the valve, check the mainfold pressure, soap test and life is good.

Now what causes these valves to go south like this.....
    ....tim any answers?

    Because

the Smart Valve has an un-interrupted 24 volt feed to the valve all the time the service switch is on sometimes there is an internal short and the main valve is powered all the time, then when the call for heat takes place through the control interrupted leg and the pilot valve is energized bang both ignite at the same time. I have seen this a couple of times fortunately it is rare.
