    Air scoop

I have a customer who has an air scoop installed backwards the arrow is facing opposite of flow.
there does not appear to be any air problems but I intend to turn it around when I replace the circ. next week.

My question is what does that air scoop look like on the inside and what will turning it change?

    It depends on the manufacturer...

Some of these units have a "scoop" cast in to them to allow the bubbles to accumulate and not be swept out by the moving water. Others are nothing more than a fat spot in the piping, in which case the arrow doesn't really matter. I've seen separators with the baffle in them installed backwards, and there was no obvious air in suspension in the system.

I'm moving away from the old technology, and more towards the newer micro bubble resorber technologies... A shock to some, I' m sure, but he who stands still gets passed up...

It's not so much a case of "You got what you paid for", as it is a matter of "You DIDN'T get what you DIDN'T pay for, and you're NOT going to get what you thought you were in the way of comfort". Borrowed from Heatboy.

One advantage of the Taco microbubble resorber is that there is no arrow on the device, and it can be installed facing in either direction. That may beconvenient.

The produce shares other advantages with the other microbubble resorber manufacturers. Some hydraulic separators have such air eliminators built in, and dirt traps besides.
