    Oil Tank to burner....

    What would be needed for the design of a wall to allow for a boiler and oil boiler to be made closer to each other (less than 60" )...ty,kpc

    I would check local/state

    firecodes. Typically it is firecode both sides of the partition wall

    NFPA 31

    I believe you need to have a one hour fire wall between the tank and heating appliance when they are within five feet of each other.  The wall must go from the floor to the ceiling and one foot beyond the the tank of appliance.  I cant seem to locate my book at this moment.  If I remember correctly.  That is what the book tells you to do.

    Where are you located?

    This is authoritative for NY; also the same for any jurisdiction adopting the IRC.. subjec to local amendment:

    M2201.2.1 Tanks within buildings. Supply tanks for
    use inside of buildings shall be of such size and shape to permit installation
    and removal from dwellings as whole units. Supply tanks larger than 10 gallons
    (38 L) shall be placed not less than 5 feet (1524 mm) from any fire or flame
    either within or external to any fuel-burning appliance.

    That being said, if you wanted to go closer than 5' you would technically need a variance, as there is no exception for fire-resistant walls.

    Best to check with your local building inspector.

    I'm in New Hampshire....

    so NFPA 31 would be the rule. I have a email into the AHJ... ty,kpc
