Small oil boiler
I am working on a bid and need a oil fired boiler with an input rating of 60-75k btu. Should be a .45 or a .5gpm nozzle. Needs to be 83% AFUE and must be listed in manufacturer specs as the stated input and AFUE. Any help? -
How about this -
Ultimate PFO-3
See page 4:

Wow
I have no idea from under what rock you found that, but I will take it. Is it readily available? I've heard of ECR for sure, but never Ultimate. Maybe this will be my winning edge! Thank you! -
AFAIK
The Ultimates are readily available. Reasonably priced too.
Lots installed in New England.
I think Ultimate was a Mass. company before ECR bought them, but i'm not 100% sure.

Peerless
makes a Pinnacle oil-fired condensing. -
Costly
It's a low bid state job and I just need the cheapest thing that hits their requirements -
This little guy is cast in turkey!
This is the best bang for your buck, about one third the price of a viessman! One of the cheapest boilers to buy, and its a 3 pass.

Might also look at the Burnham MPO-IQ84
not sure if that Granby is available in the States, though it does look interesting.

Same
company -
you are right Peter
They were out of Natick, then Dumkirk bought them out. They casted the boiler for them. They turned to junk shortly after. I put them in for about 12 years, then no more. Pensotti would get my vote for a "small" boiler, and definitely a Riello, no NX. -
Buy America Act
Most of the state jobs that I am seeing these days are grant funded through the "Buy America Act". I looked at a job the other day where one of the European boilers would have been an absolutely perfect fit. Couldn't use it. Didn't get the job anyway. Oh well. Win some. Loss some.
I would look at the Burnham myself. -
I'd go for that Meplumber
Sate jobs in my area don't require that, but there's a thought, keep American workers working. I'm all for that. Sadly enough, most don't see it that way -
hey Ron
Isn't that a pinner? Don't you know those are taboo? : ) -
The pinners don't meet the specs
The specs that they are writing for these grants aren't met by the pinners. Only the 3 passers will meet it.
I have been using the Burnham MPO. Not my absolute favorite boiler, but one of the better ones.
I have been looking at the Peerless Cast 92-2 and 92-4's for my gas "Buy America" jobs. That and the Hydrotherm KN series. They are essentially the same boiler, but the Hydrotherm gives me a higher range, going up to 3 million. -
Solaia
I am surprised that no one mentioned my little red buddy the Solaia. It is a Boyertown PA product. Nice little boiler. I have seen a few of them installed and they are hard to beat.
