I am toying with idea of having my oil fired furnace converted to propane. The smell of the oil and the location of the oil tank are factors prompting this idea. I see that there are gas burners available that can directly replace the oil burner while retaining the existing furnace. I understand that the heating efficiency of the propane is less than that of oil and that changes in the flu would be required and so forth. Are there any major disadvantages to considering this type of conversion?

The cost of a conversion burner is usually about the same as a new gas fired unit..

90+ furnace
Just pick a 90+ furnace that fits your needs, they are cheaper than a conversion burner and more efficient...

So I would just go with a 90+ furnace no conversion burner, there are some real nice furnaces out there, I like the Armstrong A97mv, a96mv, or even the 95... all good choices..
Also a good time to throw in a case coil, insulate your duct work, make a few changes if need be, and get some A/C if you already dont have it...

go with the 90+ furnace, if i was burning a gas there would be no way anyone could talk me out of it. 90+ is the way to go, for the price and easy install u won't be disapointed, and will wounder y u even thought of just changing the burner of the old furnace!!
