    Oil Burner to Gas Burner

I have a weilmclain steam boiler. I have a beckett oil burner.

Can I just replace the burner with a gas burner? Or do i have to get a new boiler as well?

    Thanks

    Need the model number

somewhere on the boiler should be a tag with the boiler's BTU ratings. On this tag is a series of numbers and letters which end in 78. The number immediately before the 78 is the number of sections the boiler has, so this will tell us what gas burner to use.

The 78 series was still being made in 2003- the CD I got at the Weil-McLain tour which was part of Wetstock that year lists it as a current model.

    Wow

I thought they were goin before that, I have honestly NEVER installed a model 78, I stayed away from them, I used the WM  golds a little when they first came out, then stopped, then tried the ultra 80's then stopped, but now I will use the gold oils {sometimes when I need a tankless fhw} and the CGi gas {I really like them little boilers, very well made and pretty well thought out}...   But thats it...
I remember when you had the choice of 3 boilers and you picked the one that looked closest to the one you were taking out {top right supply with left front bottom return ect..}  now you can get lost in the decisions and the prices are all getting closer and closer, I also remember the williamson 3 section oil with a coil was under a thousand bucks, now the cheapest oils are 50% more to start...

    Try PowerFlame

one of their WJR or WCR burners should work. That's what they're using on the 80 series boilers, which have similar ratings.
