    Help needed with heater

Hi. We have just moved from Dallas to Houston and need some advice. We are wanting to replace the heater in the house as the previous owners told us about the problems they had and adivsed us to do it. We're new to the area so we don't know which company to chose for the job. I've googled some companies and came across this one http://www.aramendiahouston.com/ but there are lots of others too, and I don't want to jump into anything without getting some advice first. Is there anyone in the Houston area that could give me some advice or suggestions please? Many thanks.

    Peerless Boilers

You mean Peerless Boilers? It looks like they only operate in Canada...

    No

    Peerless is a boiler manufacturer.

Look at the "Find a Contractor" tab on the top of this page. If you can't find anyone on there, then you may want to try the contractor locator on HVAC-Talk.com.

Your best bet is to find someone that has good references and has been recommended by a friend, neighbor, co-worker, etc. Google, Angie's List, internet advertising are all just that: advertising. A lot of companies have much glitter but little substance. As general rule, the larger the company, the more likely they're gonna be concerned with show but have less go. Not always, but more often than not.

What sort of heating system do you have? Are there radiators providing heat, or ducts blowing hot air? Why has the previous owner advised you to change the heater? What were the specific problems she described?--NBC

    Good people.

There's a "find a contractor" option on the menu line. I think you missed it and clicked on the ad that appears at the very top.

    Thank you

Ohh I see it now, yeah totally missed it! I'm having a look now and also checked out Angie's list - how did I not know about this?!  It's so useful!
Yep, we have radiators, 4 of them...I think the problem is that it's very old, I mean the house is quite old itself and requires a lot of work so we have basically decided to do as much renovation to it as we can! (...as we can afford). I can't begin to describe the problems that the previous owners mentioned, just because I am not even sure what they meant, as I know as little about the subject as possible. That's why we need a trusted and reliable company to give us a hand and hopefully sort this out :)
