The Minuteman
I have installed the Minuteman a couple of times and am very disappointed! It is billed as a closet unit but I would never do that again. Unless they have changed the design there is a low pressure limit that has problems right from the factory and can only be accessed by removing the rear cover(try this when it's in a closet). Also had the dometic recirculation pump fail on 2 out of 3 within the first 18 months. There are also other issues that prompt my unwillingness to install this unit again. If you want to see what Viessmann makes
If you really want to see what Viessmann makes but is not available here, visit this link. It's their European lineup complete with everything from wood gasification and pellets, to HRV's, wall hung condensing oil, you name it. http://www.viessmann.de/web/germany/com_publish.nsf/AttachmentsByTitle/pr-product-range-2005.pdf/$FILE/pr-product-range-2005.pdf It's enough to make a true heating man weep. I think their smallest combo unit runs from 5KW to 24KW output. That'd be roughly 17,000 btu's on up. -
More depressing stuff

baxi
we have been installing the baxi for about three tears now and have had no problems adjustable heat output temp modulating boiler with hot water from 35,000 up to 105,000 btu output comes with cir pump exp tank and presure relief already installed and it plugs in for easier wiring -
Direct venting
with intake and exhaust pipes running in an old chimney flue. BTW the heat loss was more than I thought.... the old 18-inch-thick stone walls don't have much R-value. We calced 83,000 BTUH. To Learn More About This Professional, Click Here to Visit Their Ad in "Find A Professional" -
Small Dual Function Boiler
Tell me what kind of venting you want to use. Condensed, Closed or Open Cumbustion? I can fit you with a reliable and affordable unit. -
Direct Vent Boiler
I have the perfet boiler for you. Call me at (323) 428-1618 and I can tell you more about it. -
Axia
The Axia 20E is slightly less than the others, but not by much. I would have to defer to my roots here and suggest a Munchkin T50 with a Super Stor SSU30 or SSU30 LB indirect. with that they would be putting the extended 80,000 BTUs to the indirect. -
WE have used the triangle tube system
the burner gave poor performance , a lot of excess air, sooting alot. Its been in for 2 1/2 years now and we keep a close eye on it. -
We've used the
Teledyane Laars Endurance twice and had no problems. I think Burnham makes a unit called the Minuteman. Scott To Learn More About This Professional, Click Here to Visit Their Ad in "Find A Professional" -

Looked at a job today
haven't gotten the heat loss done but it can't be more than 50,000 BTUH or so. Two small hydro-air zones, HO wants to dump existing electric water heater. Triangle's combos start at 100,000 BTUH. Anyone know of smaller ones that perform reliably? To Learn More About This Professional, Click Here to Visit Their Ad in "Find A Professional" -
We've installed several (7) Teledyne Laars units in closets in an apartment complex. Have worked well for the most part. Had several (3) aquastat failures - otherwise we are happy with the unit so far. Only 12 months experience

Baxi
1.31 fi non condensing combo boiler, R- Max feature allows adjustment of burner output from 35000 up to 105000 output. (may be some short cycling issues at low end of output range) Or their condenser can be stacked on top of their Modulo indirect tank (20 gal) that has some pretty impressive flow rates. Havent used the Modulo, but the combo unit works well. -
combo
Quietside makes a nice little unit, haven't tried one yet but do have one coming in to try. -
That's the bigger size, Jamie, the 15 Minuteman.
-
In one insallation I have both sizes side by side and am still experiencing problems with both almost 2 years after installation. The sound level when both are running together could wake the dead. Luckily one of them does not fire very often as the entire upper floors are well insulated and each room is a seperate radiant zone. Doesn't Viessman make a nice stacky combo that allows you to size the boiler? Buderous too maybe. Their stuff always seems to work pretty well.

Certainly a market for an under 50K
Laars had a Mini Therm combo that went down pretty small. Since you are going with hydro coils you may not want, of need a mod con. I believe Triangle Tube is blending their tank with a Prestige, but not that small size, as far as I know. You may be building your own. Dollar wise it may work out better that way to get exzctly what you want. hot rod To Learn More About This Professional, Click Here to Visit Their Ad in "Find A Professional"
