Please refresh on how to convert lbs per hour steam (5175) 15 psi to btu's Thanks Bill

WB2B

@ March 11, 2010 1:01 PM in Buderus GB142 vs Burnham Alpine

If it were my home I would look @ Viessmann-lifetime warranty on the heat exchanger and it is manufactured by V. The new WB2B has Lamda Pro combustion technology-31 to 370 mbh inputs and priced to compete in USA-check it out www.viessmann.com

Simple with 2 stage

@ March 5, 2010 6:49 PM in Can you recomend a simple, reliable boiler?

Lochinvar makes a nice residential boiler called the Solution. It comes standard with 2 stage firing -sweet simple little machine. Burnham series 2 is a qualifier as well.

1.5

@ March 2, 2010 6:44 PM in Who's using what for 1.5M BTU commercial boilers

We represent Lochinvar and 2 boilers is always better than one, the Sync series (2 knights in one skin) have btu inputs of 1.0, 1.3 and 1.5. We have done retro-fits and many times the original boiler was oversized (imagine that) Do a heat calc or radiation load. We have seen big savings on fuel usage retrofitting with Knights and Syncs. Brunner P&H in Windsor, Colorado has done alot of these.

slab insulation

@ January 15, 2010 4:19 PM in slab insulation

Fellas,
Do any of you have data on different types of slab insulation, which performed the best. ME I know a few yrs back you did a study-Thanks Big Bill

Radiant Windows

@ December 22, 2009 1:55 PM in When is Delta T for heating not a true Delta T??

ME,
I have not posted since the walls new format-I love your post's !!! Always informative not sure why Dave is so jealous ?

solar flex

@ July 20, 2009 12:46 PM in caleffi Solar flex underground rating

Per Caleffi it can be buried, the closed cell insulation is resistent to moisture however they ask that you run the flex in protective plastic pipe (sewer pipe)

Mom

Dan, I will definitely tell Mom how much I love her-Your parents legacy will live thru u Dan

btu per sq ft

@ July 17, 2009 1:08 PM in snow melt slab temps

Lots of snow to melt here in Colorado and we usually see 125-150 btu's per sq ft. Tekmar is the choice for sensing moisture and monitoring slab temp-The 665 is ideal for a condensing boiler-no mixing required.

@ July 15, 2009 3:53 PM in Grundfos UP15-38SPA Circulation Pump v. Taco 007

Did you put in 007 bronze ? I would think that would have a better chance than the iron body. Either way all the chemicals are probably going to make for a shorter life. Love Taco circs !

EDR

@ July 13, 2009 6:43 PM in Radiator BTU

You could calculate 5 sq ft per section (conservatively)multiply that by 180 for water and for steam use 240 x 5 x # of sections, some swag involved in this equation

260

@ July 6, 2009 5:04 PM in Tekmar 260

We recommend it all the time, longer cycles, partial re-set for non-condensing boilers, indoor temperature feedback with an indoor sensor attached and the magical pid logic

pex

@ July 6, 2009 2:31 PM in What size hole

If noise caused you a problem before the I would use something that does not expand and contract, pex aluminum is a good alternative as well as onix. Both those will keep the expansion noises to a minimum

flow direction

@ June 29, 2009 2:35 PM in Gas boiler shuddering and ticking

The aquastat is reading return temp and letting the boiler boil water ? possibly

UEI

@ June 23, 2009 12:05 PM in Digital Combustion Analyzers

We represent UEI and they make the Eagle series-very intuitive, easy to change between l.p. and natural gas-the kits come with infra-red printers. They do need annual sensor calibration. I really like the C-125, we use it to set up Knight Boilers in the field, also can take gas pressure readings, comes with 2 k-type thermocouples

ME

@ February 24, 2009 11:50 AM in Change.... (ME)

ME-Mr Gibbs mentioned this to me and now it is official-sometimes knowledge like you have can be intimidating but you never made me feel that way-on the contrary always helpful beyond expectations best to u ME-We know where to find you, Shamrock is just finishing a training room !

PUMP AWAY

@ October 13, 2008 7:07 PM in Job Photos # 2 ( s milne)

Beautiful wall of pumps-Do not kid yourself-Your utility company loves all the kw's consumed with spinning impellars everywhere

@ July 25, 2008 1:34 PM in Knight sensor two failure

I have seen this fault-s2 is the return sensor and sometimes thru xpansion/contraction the circuit opens-you can use the supply sensor that comes with the boiler if you are not using to sense the supply-just don't zip tie as tite as greg gibbs

Manifolds

@ July 14, 2008 1:40 PM in Need to buy radiant manlfolds, rep not being helpful...JohnNY

Watts Radiant stainless steel manifolds offer balancing and flow meters, soon the flow meter side of the manifold (supply) will have shut-off capability-regards big bill
