How do ...
@ February 21, 2009 1:55 PM in Condensing boilers
you Know if the High temp needs High temperatures? You may want to do a heatloss maybe the "baseboards?" are oversized which will be of a benefit I use the Vitodens 200 and am waiting for the 100 to be approved for High attitude and will interface the 100 with the Iworx(Innovex) which was just acquired by Taco.. Triangle's Prestige is also a very good Boiler and will allow higher temps which will work better on SOME retrotits.. But also keep in mind that the support from your rep shall be a factor..interesting!

25% compared to what? I do not understand cost? Cost in the Install or the operation? and is the Maintenance included? how about life expectation? Again compared to the: The new 90+ Teledyne Laars boiler that comes from Italy? Or you regular Teledyne Laars Mini therms at 83% efficiency? which will have to make "Euro boilers" 108% efficient?? Yes they are 108% efficient!! compared to some of the "domestic" boilers.... Sorry :-) time to catch up.. just like the auto industries "We" have been sleeping! Maybe question Buderus or Viessmann about the 100 Plus efficient Systems and yes they are available for some time now :-) We shall also try not to be "Pumpaholics" and Proud of it and all the other parasitic Loads that "We" have been specing for so long now! that will reduce the 25 % system cost/operational cost/ and the Maintenance cost quite a bit! Maybe "We" shall try to disregard what "they" have to say or teach us and lean it the hard way! Politics?? Or what do yuall think? I just hope that this does not affect the "Euro boilers" Since most of the "Leg work" comes from overseas forced on them because of the High fuel cost and it will not be to "Our" benefit to bite them or not gain from there experience! Or maybe "We" can be just like the Chinese and just Tear "theirs" apart and just copy it! Screw the Patents, and the experience ehh? Sorry did not want to offend "US"or"Them" or get outta hand. Some times Politics have deeper meaning and "WE" cannot understand because "WE" cannot see the overall Picture I and the Boiler Industries need a "Bailout" and i will "Bailout" to the ISH in a couple weeks just to get frustrated about what "our" government is going to restrict next.. and will be available in 15 years..:-)\"Mini solar\"
@ February 19, 2009 12:56 PM in any Solar Demo trailers out there?
Yes i retro fitted my Boiler trailer and installed a Viessmann 100 series on a horizontal and have a PV next to it,i also installed a Pump station on the door i am running out of space and cannot install a tank to make it functional! but i made a "Mini me" small Functional solar system last summer which i take to events and when it is not on events i use it to heat the water for my outdoor sink and BBQ.. I remember that you wanted Pix and now that i have Office help and am expanding in a positive way I will ask for help on getting these pix posted ! Hope all is well with you and your business and hope to see you at the ISH and have some gut deutsches Bier Richard von der HeatmeisterLiability

Replace it for the recommend or original parts! or i guess you can change to a reg. thermocouple.... but do you want to be responsible for it? Make sure that the screen(Intake air) is clean or free of lint or dust and the bottom plate is in place...call AO SmithH2 OHhhhhhh

I Second Paul on this one,or you can do a "external demand" but the"DHW kit" will be better depending on the piping/controls and requirement/Needs... Why two 15/60 for domestic? Very large demand? Swimming against the stream is not recommended or tiring to reinvent the wheel is pointless, just pay the piper which is not to much compared to the time wasted! 80' is very far and shall be insulated well, the add. head may require a diff. circulator than the 0010! Hope all works out OK.. RichardStolz

Which means: to be proud and with a reason or justified in Germanic language and we will see much more of this in just a couple of weeks in the "Heimart land" Very nice job Bo!Best in Denver
@ February 17, 2009 5:30 AM in Looking for a small 95%+ boiler to DIRECTLY heat a DHW tank
How about using a Dual coil Indirect in cojunction with you 120 gallon and interfacing it with the existing Boiler as a preheat to the 120 gallon electric waterheater ? Like this you can reuse the tank with the new boiler which hopefully will be at 90+ effcientcy and you will be producing water at close to that eff. .You will have less Maintenance due to no extra Gasvalves/Controls/Flushing and you may even be able to interface a solar system as well? This tank may also be the best Bang for you buck, good luck. Low E has some nice Tanks,Talk to Bob or Jack they will know as they are the best in Denver !Your friends

Hey Mark, I know that you will do just fine and it is time to talk about a bright future! Time to put on the microphone and the makeup? Now that's a TV reality show that i will be Watching all of the time! that will be 10 X better than TOH (Das Alte Haus). But you cannot call it the "Boiler Whisperer" as that name is taken! Maybe Call it : DAS HEAT or TGH(This Green House)TM! Still no opening for the ISH? or is Jersey still on? We are having the last meeting of all of the "Colorado Heatmeister tour" this Saturday at a "Ski Haus" in Breckenridge.. bring your bathing pants for the hottubben! Ether way you are MORE that welcome to join our Pre ISH Party! The Real Richard von der Heatin sie uppen die haus!100% efficiency
@ February 17, 2009 3:54 AM in Looking for a small 95%+ boiler to DIRECTLY heat a DHW tank
The "Tankless"gas waterheaters are about 87% or just below Condensing..they are cheaper to operate but will require more maintenance i.e. a yearly flushing depending on the quality of the water that it is subjected to ! That is the reason that any "Boiler" will not allow a "Direct" interface to fresh water ,or not any manufacture that i know of. Why do you need so much hot water? Do you have a boiler for heat? and if so,how efficient is it? You may interface the boiler with the Waterheater via a exchanger ! You may also use a electric "tankless" like Stiebel Eltron and get 100% efficiency with no standby losses Or maybe think about a solar Hot water system which can be interfaced with your electric waterheater There are many ways that you may skin this cat. but using a Stainless Steel boiler directly is not a way that i will recommend doing it! Call the guys at Low E in Denver and talk to the Hot water guys. They will be able to help! 1 800 873 3507 Hope this helps! Richard in Dillon COEast coast?

I,ve got a few of them out there they are OK especially when you combine it with the "Modulo" 20 gallon waterheater ,the Control:Siemens QAA 73 is very nice! it is not just a regular thermostat and with the proper training you can even adjust the draft inducer speed which is a must at 10 000 feet. Yes they have Coax venting system. Over all it is a nice boiler but the support from Marathon sucked, Maybe Teledyne can do a better job on the support sideHarmonic \"Fog Horn\" noise
@ February 7, 2009 11:52 PM in Fog Horn Noise From Mod Con
I have Heard this on some of my TT installs at 10k feet, the only way we are able to get rid of this is to adjust the O2 to i think 9.4 and yes you are trading off some efficiency what brand are you talking about?\"A man convinced agains his will,is of the same opinion still\"

Auguring with you will only make you "hate me" Time will tell and the maintenance/energy waste will be a very big factor in this equation! Personally if i was approached by some "Mechanical Engineer" that spec's this i would have tried to explain why not to do this (IN WRITING with the flow rates and a zone report/ heat loss) if he did not change this i would have been "Stubborn" and would have Turned the job down by :Thank's but no thanks!again not verbal and CC to all that are involved!!! If you do not want to Argue with the "Mechanical Engineer" i bet that someone from Wilo/Grundfoss can do the Calc's and the "Talk" next time and help "Educate" the "Engineer" (Sorry that Taco do not have this Technology yet. but i hear that they just added Innovex to the Equation which is very good ) Just remember that even the people and especially the people that have this kind of money did not get were they are by being "wasteful" The "green wave" is finally here and it is time to get on that wave and ride it! Sorry, for the criticism, NO bad ill intended..Richard :-]@ February 5, 2009 10:27 PM in 37 zones of radiant heat...(JohnNY)

Think "green" ,Think Wilo... Also as you mentioned if Wilo is not avail in you area Grundfos has the Alpha! Inpressive mech room layout but do not like the angle on the circs for many reasons i.e. "Burning out" Circs. In Germany we call systems like this Pumpaholics!\"Upgrade\"
@ February 5, 2009 9:07 PM in Triangle Tube Solo Boiler acid problem
On this "Upgrade" was the system circulating pump change to a Bronze circ? Was the expansion tank of the domestic type? Is the fill valve Bronze? Is there any ferrous(Iron) material in this equation? was the system flushed? was a system Cleaner like Rhomar used to clean the debris from the old system? are you on a Well? Was the system treated with a system Treatment after the install?Do you have a indirect waterheater? and if so which brand? Why do you need Glycol?were are you located? Maybe some Pix may help!.. Heatmeister AKA the none ox expert Edit: High PH ?.... or low PH?...Low will be Acidic! how was this PH measured?Pretends to know

Yes i have seen many shows of TOH were Richard is just running around pretending to know Heat.. Maybe he shall stick with explaining the "1/4 inch per foot"(Plumbing) and even with the PVC piping in one show he primed the joints applied the glue put it together and let it go! you can see it coming apart while the camera is running! Priceless!Telephone Interfaced Viessmann
@ February 5, 2009 5:52 AM in Telephone Interfaced Viessmann
Not sure if i am "Coding" the Viessmann correctly. #1 charged to 011:001 #2 Changed to 027:001 ?? #3 Changed to 0C8:000 Then i set the "Reduced room temperature knob" to 60F , make and break contacts between X 4.1 and X 4.2 via a Autodailer wait for about 2 days and am finding the the temperature in the house is still around 70F. NOT sure about the 027: 001 code? ,also is the "reduced room temperature" dial the lower setting value or is Viessmann using a "parallel shift" in the heating curve setting for the lower supply temp.? Does anybody have experience with this setup? Thanks RichardKapiche
