Fuel savings with condensing technology

@ January 19, 2004 1:54 PM in munchkin 140 quote $8500, reasonable?

is typically 30 to 50 % for a gravity conversion system. I realized a 30% reduction on my house, and I replaced what is considered a relatively high efficiency atmospheric appliance. Replacing like for like appliances is not going to show any fuel savings unless some sort of control logic (outdoor reset) is applied at the same time. ME

We're rebuilding a delicate system and my partner said he thought he'd seen some constant tension clamps available on some newer Solaroll systems. Any one know of a source of supply? TIA ME

The problem is....

@ January 9, 2004 4:13 PM in how good is the munchkin?

Not all "pros" KNOW their controls, and this is not meant to be a negative towards you Josh. When a group of contractors met a long time ago setting the goals of HTP and the Munchkin, we asked for exclusivity to prevent another GlowCore disaster. We originally wanted certification just to purchase the boiler. Instead, exclusivity was given to the proprietary control logic, and I still think rightfully so. If you want to play, you have to pay, and MUST be certified. It is well worth the price of admission. JMHO ME

Stack vs Flue...

@ January 9, 2004 2:07 PM in Problem on \"CO again\" post

versus breaching. I've always been under the impression that the connector between the combustion chamber and the relief hood was called the breaching, and that anything after that is consider flue, or stack. Timmie, Jim? ME

@ December 30, 2003 9:05 AM in My Ultimate heating system (ME)

I guess the thermal potential of feces is not that high... Instead, maybe I'll go with the GFX heat exchanger, and a small sewage lift station to recirculate the hot water and extract as much thermal energy as possible, as opposed to giving it just "one look" as it currently gets. HMMmmm, thanks for the brainstorm Duncan. ME
