@ January 4, 2014 9:19 AM in what boiler does Constant Circ w/ outdoor reset besides Viessmann?I trust the comment wasn't intended to be taken personally. You seem well informed
I tend to agree with you, without indoor feed some fuel will be wasted or some comfort will be sacrificed
@ January 4, 2014 9:13 AM in what boiler does Constant Circ w/ outdoor reset besides Viessmann? We did that maybe 7 or 8 years ago with some systems, with a simple "heat on" and "heat off" switch. It just doesn't compare to a real indoor feed. Too much, not enough, wasted fuel, maybe you have the special touch with settings, I'll stick with indoor feedback with my euro style rad jobs
I'll use a tekmar if the ho wants a good system but doesn't want a smart boiler
@ December 21, 2013 5:47 PM in what boiler does Constant Circ w/ outdoor reset besides Viessmann?I'm at a loss how to write up my quotes to Ho's with this new 'reduced AFUE issue,
I've been selling V forever, and always utilize the constant circ mentality. So, as i try to sit here and write quotes for the coming year (with their new 'reduced' AFUE ratings), can i really write Viessmann is the only manufacturer with this feature? I am well aware that the bud2107 can do it too (it always killed me that the GB142 couldn't do this out of the box, actually had a sales guy once that got me in trouble of that subject years ago), yet i am specifically asking about mod/con at this time.
I am well aware that tekmar can make many of these boilers do constant too.
So, what other boilers can do bona fide outdoor rest and contant circ, with indoor feedback? What other boiler manufacturer can drive a modulating mixing valve off of their mod/con boiler's logic? I need to know what I'm talking about, finally. If there are other boilers that do what Viessmann does, i can't type in my quotes what I am intending on typing.
Thanks for any help, Gary
@ December 16, 2013 7:23 AM in Liberty 331 Transfer Pump brush kit?My vendor says it's not in their system, only the impeller kit.
Will search the other recommendations.
@ December 14, 2013 6:55 AM in Boiler Firing every 3 minutes or so.. Normal? Are you sure you have enough gas?
we has this exact problem once, gas line too small
@ December 14, 2013 6:49 AM in Liberty 331 Transfer Pump brush kit?Anyone know where to get a brush kit for the liberty?
@ December 2, 2013 7:32 AM in Any Viessmann pros have a spreadsheet on Vito partsThe LGM29 on the A series 200 fits every boiler in the line up, but the radial fan is different for every size.
The gas valve is the same for the entire line up.

@ December 2, 2013 7:00 AM in Any Viessmann pros have a spreadsheet on Vito partsHello, I have a bunch of Vitodens out there. A series and B, 100 and 200.
It's apparent that many of the parts are interchangeable between several sizes of the same model.
My local vendor has plainly opted not to stock many parts; that's a different conversation (yes, they are happy to sell boilers, but not stock parts). The rep says there is no sheet available.
In an effort not to take over the wholesalers line of work and stock redundant parts, does anyone have a sheet of any sort that identifies whaich parts can be crossed to several boilers?
@ November 11, 2013 8:10 AM in Combining 2 zones into 1?your math is working out, just wire them both in.
@ November 10, 2013 4:05 PM in Combining 2 zones into 1?I'm sorry, I don't know the control on your boiler. I also can't determine what your control experience is either. Do you have a mixing valve that is operated off of the boilers logic? If yes, or new question, you simply want to run two circs off of one thermostat ? I may be missing something. If we spoke on the phone I could understand much faster.
You can run 10 zones off of that one circ output, you just need a relay control.
I am familiar with Viessmann. One their boilers you need a rather expensive independent control if you want multiple constant circulation / modulating mixing zones
If you just want a signal to the boiler for low temp, that is easily done with a RIB relay
@ November 10, 2013 9:09 AM in Combining 2 zones into 1?Yes, can't you simply disconnect the stat from the bedroom TT, and jump liv circ power to the bed circ?
I don't quote understand your communication glitch to the boiler, yet if need be simply install a rib relay and when your circ powers up you can send a n/o signal to your boiler
@ November 10, 2013 9:00 AM in Mono flow kicking my butt....Are you sure you don't have a stray loop coming off the main/zone somewhere? If you disturb the pressure balance you will lose flow ( if you have two or more loops off the same zone)
Seems like you have a pressure drop issue, that's if you're positive it's not an air issue
@ November 10, 2013 9:00 AM in Mono flow kicking my butt....Both of those items may be too much pressure drop.

@ November 5, 2013 7:04 AM in G125 and a chimneyqwow, you were running this into the chimney with no liner? Interior chimney I take it? I am curious how big the flue is and how tall.
Thanks for the feedback
@ September 12, 2013 8:55 AM in GB142 UBA, anyone have one go bust?I have heard of two situations where a technician (not us) did their basic annual cleaning for their customer, and upon starting up the system, zippo. Dead UBA.
I just drafted up a basic letter and sent in to all of our GB142 customers, indicating in several polite sentences that could happen, and what the cost would be to replace it if it did indeed happen.
Has anyone else heard of this? if yes, how on earth did that go with the home owner?
@ August 8, 2013 8:06 AM in How is businessI am making the grand assumption that you feel your pricing isn't low
enough based on the fact that you aren't getting enough jobs. Or, the guy with the cheaper system is taking all the work (which is the same thing)
The biggest irony is people will tell you they went with someone else becasue the other guy's price was lower. This is sometimes (not always of course) a white lie. Remember, customers are allowed to lie in our society (if they get caught it could be a problem, but that's another story). It's simply the easiest thing to tell a hard working blue collar man like you and me that "you're out of the picture".
In my earlier days i had pretty low costs (I lived with my grandparents when i started out in 1989, had a rented 30' trailer for inventory), yet I would still get, "your price was higher than the other guy'. It took me well over a decade to get over this price myth; it was stuck deep into my head.
So, you need to hurdle over this price thing! You can't win every job, it's never going to happen. Don't let the white lies get you down!! Some people prefer fine dining, other people prefer McDonalds. Some people prefer a used car, other people prefer a lexus/mercedes. These simple thoughts helped me get over the mental block i had.
@ August 8, 2013 7:37 AM in Prevailing wage questionsI believe my math skills are at least average, I just want to know what to pay my guys. The entity needing the boiler has no clue on this, so their nice new gas meter bracket will sit there until this mess gets worked out.
@ August 7, 2013 3:26 PM in How is businessI used to worry a lot about keeping the lowest price possible until I realized i was going into debt and that not everyone wants a cheap installation. Once I had my ah ha moment I have enjoyed life and business so much more. It took a good butt-whupping by Frank Blau, he got through my thick head many years ago. I think he stopped touring though.
Anyhow, I don't know if this reply is helpful, it's not your price in my opinion. It seems like your apologetic that your price isn't as cheap as the others. That's not good.
@ August 7, 2013 7:17 AM in Prevailing wage questionsFor the most part I am ignorant in these matters. So, our country (states, counties, cities, towns) has financial issues and we are required to hike up the pricing to follow the rules? Love it!!!
@ August 5, 2013 3:19 PM in Prevailing wage questionsI'm in Mass, I have a job that started out as a privately owned entity, but becasue of some funding I need to get familiarized with the stage wage stuff. It's been about 20 years since I did a prevailing wage job; I recall getting extremely frustrated with the rate my helper was supposed to get paid, or something about the years he was a helper, or some madness like that.
Anyway, can anyone offer me a helping hand on this? Does each town have their own rate? I ask becasue the asbestos abatement guy (that i am supposed to hire) said that was the case.
I looked on for a web site yet that seemed like a dead end, there was some log-in required.
Anyway, we just want to replace a boiler, and hire the asbestos person.
Thanks for the help, Gary
