fan board

@ October 20, 2011 8:58 AM in fan board

Tim I don't recall number of board. What I am trying to say is I have had trouble with boards failing for different reasons. Sometime inducer is powered and all other functions are good but won't powerblower from board. And sometime no power to inducer motor. Runs a year or so.are these things cheap made or what. It is a condesing furnace and other components show no trouble. Is there a better board. Are there any decent universal boards that fit multiple brands. Thanks

gas pilots

Thx tim. If all tests ok with what you posted can it be a problem with gas valve or gas pressure

how about building a insulated structure around furnace, well sealed with removable door for service.

pilot goes out often

@ October 19, 2011 6:19 PM in pilot goes out often

i am a contractor and i have a older gas goodman furnace that pilot light goes out alot.you can light it it and stays lit but sometimes goes out for no apparent reason. i put a new thermocouple at least once a year, sometimes twice and sometimes it goes out in between. it is 20 plus years old and i told customer she should replace it . but she isnt ready to do so yet. is there any other simple things i can try.i know it could be gas valve but i am not sure and i am trying to get her to replace rather than throw good money replacing stuff on a old unit. is there a way to tell if t/c is getting good pilot heat etc. even though its old it doesnt make sense why this pilot is tempermental.

oil line upgrades

@ October 11, 2011 8:29 PM in oil line upgrades

when a tech for a company does a oil line upgrade to new mass law, you give homeowner copy of form 1a. do you have to submit one to fire dept. and if so who does that, the company or customer.

fan board

i have a customer that has had multiple fan boards go on icp condensing furnace.sometimes wouldnt power inducer fan and other times no power to heat power terminal. are theses honey well boards just cheap or what. if same reason for failures i could buy that something else is wrong in circuit, but different things going bad. any insight. thanks

overheated motor

@ October 10, 2011 8:37 PM in overheated blower motor

thanks jamie but i returned the service call money because after i got a email from them i searched my insides and felt that they were thinking that i was trying to just make a motor sale. i didnt want any problems with the bbb etc.as stated i should have put the option in their lap. i made a mistake.i dont want their buisness anyways because i believe they were trying to price shop my repair. in the future as stated if i can get the motor to run with a capacitor than i will have the customer sighn that if motor fails its on them not me. again i felt i was doing the right thing by replacing the motor so i could warrantee it for a year, and not take a risk on my dime that the motor might fail again. thats all ok. i am knowledgeable and very honest. i am human and let my guard down. like i said i am fairly new in buisness and used to never have to deal with all this stuff and i am constantly trying to improve when trouble shooting and gaurenteeing my work.

oil line under floor

@ October 10, 2011 8:16 PM in OIL BOILER ROLLING FIRE AFTER TURNING OFF?

i was wondering why insurance company would not want line under ground. in massachuesetts they want either a sleeved non metalic line or osv. i dont recall that you couldnt bury it.

form 1a

@ October 10, 2011 6:46 PM in Massachusetts oil supply line code

i thought there was only one form from the state for new mass law. the form 1a is the only one i have been using for new lines and ones that were already up to code. if there is another one what is it and where do you get it. i also did not think you had to go to the fire dept, all you had to do was give the homeowner the form 1a and they would send a copy to their homeowners insurance company.
