at regular tune-up, and if no heat call =plugged filter, strainer etc...i always add sid's STR -2 + .......have tried most everything for treatments...this one is only one i will use now.../ been doing this work since mid 70's .....been lic. as master since early 80's...also stationary engineer.. for heavy oil...big boilers...gas....

system pressure when cold & full should be 15 psi minimum....when hot higher...maybe as much as 24 psi...// 1156...extrol tank...& gauge should all be changed with relief valve...// that eliminates "free" call backs two..or 3 days after relief changed...boiler mate

gentlemen, please check your code books.....if this old guys memory not too tired, { my books are in office, & i am not going there right now } required to put anti-scald rated mixing / tempering valve at outlet of indirect.../ then you can run indirect at higher temp. & supply larger volume than tank capacity.../ agree with Al C. / just not saying the temp i set for tank...bryan boiler

suggest you may have leak in diaphragm in feeder / start with replacing feeder, see if that takes care of problem / they are fairly short money...system 2000

i will 2nd. the new jersey made system 2000...have installed & serviced many over the years...very economical....very efficient..BUT get some one to do a heat loss, & have old chimney lined, will be much better & also code issue in Maine if present chimney not in really good shape...// if "home inspector" looked at chimney, have a chimney mason inspect it ... PLEASE for your own safety, as most "home inspectors" do not really do very thorough job, just my $.02 worth...the person that inspected my house 30 years ago knew less than me, & my knowledge was only heat...& plumbing....test holes

Lerch, i also have engineering background / 2nd. class stationary lic. & me. master oil tech. lic. / i think ice was trying to nicely tell you that acid washing inside of your coil was not a cost effective solution / it usually does not work well / you need to do prep. work that takes up time=$$$ / i have done many & not often worked out well../ put in new flow restrictor in incoming cold water supply before coil rated 1/2 gal. less than coil gpm rating & new honeywell / sparco mixing valve { this valve is also rated as anti-scald } // turn up aquastat... / if still n/g ... replace coil or pipe in in-direct tank... ??? are you on city water or well ?? if well you may have more minerals in water causing build-up both inside & outside of coil that would tell me replace coil, or take it to radiator shop & pay them to put in cleaner tank for approx. 4 hours. & hope for best my $.02 opinion... Steve. btw.....unless you paint copper pipe black you will not get accurate temp. with remote temp. "heat-gun"supply houses

expansion tank is place for your heating water to expand into...as all things expand when heated../// the tankless coil heats domestic water as needed as used.... it should have a flow restrictor & good quality anti-scald rated mixing/tempering valve in the piping.i can help

i am close to cape eliz. & can help.. 30 years steam exp. /// me. lic. master oil & stationary steam engineer...tankless
@ August 11, 2007 2:13 AM in Cleaning a tankless coil
i would try a sparco mixing valve & a flow restrictor on inlet side to coil, use restrictor rated 1/2 gallon smaller than coil, that should make big improvement.
