Words to live by if you ever choose to go on your own

@ April 17, 2010 8:25 PM in Whatcha Think?

If you can't make money from your family and friends, you won't be able to on any money from anyone else.

Burnham Freedom CM is the name

@ April 15, 2010 10:19 PM in Whatcha Think?

Charlie it's one from a contact I made at a gas networks, (seminar/dinner in a nice hotel) Nancy Curtain or Vinny best are a big help. The circ is there, maybe the pics I loaded did not show it. I did cheese on the check valve. And these pics were taken before I installed the condensate pump.

yes they are internl flow checks

Grundfos, is the name brand. At first I did not like them because I thought they would get clogged easily, but I don't overlap my teflon tape over the threads when and if I use it. Just starting out you picked a good spot to learn from. I'm 12 years in the Buisness, and my first license was my oil burner tech, I took a class in Woburn, called peterson. It was hands on, which was good. But Most stuff comes from experience. Good luck, and when you do cleaning or tune ups let the vacuum do most the breathing.

Advice for a Chelsea two Family

@ April 13, 2010 8:13 PM in Advice for a Chelsea two Family

The owner wants to split the heat and hot water. The heat looks like a monoflow system with convectors. And for the domestic water a tankless. I'd like to put a triangle tube combi unit, but also want to give him two more options. Munchkin?, Add another oil boiler, tankless or indirect?, chimney or wall vented?

Ultra Easy-up Manifolds

Where were they when I did this? Does anyone sell them out of steel, or is it better out of copper? Are they worth the 300?

Whatcha Think?

@ April 13, 2010 7:45 PM in Whatcha Think?

I took out a oil Hb smith (on the right/red) and put in a Burnham wall hung gas. I love learning, and positive feedback, if you have any please drop me a line. Thanks.

VARIVALVE=================HEAT-TIMER

@ January 27, 2008 7:43 PM in VARIVALVE---------------------------HEATTIMER

I INSTALLED A NEW STEAM BOILER LAST YEAR. IN LESS THAN SIX MONTHS THE VARI-VENT HAS BLEW APART. NOT THE THREADS BUT THE GUTS. I CHECKED THE PRESSURE AND DIFF. AND IS AT 1/2 PSI. THEN I SKIMMED THE BOILER FOR A COUPLE HOURS. AND IT HAPPENED 3 MONTHS LATER. CAN THE VALVE BE DEFFECTIVE OR SHOULD I LOOK ELSEWHERE? THE REST OF THE SYSTEM HAS REGULAR VENT RITES, BUT THIS IS ON A BASEBOARD PIECE OF HEAT (THAT LOOKS LIKE HIGH TEMP).

Why not?

@ January 27, 2008 7:29 PM in Indirect water tank

Why not a gas fired tankless (Noritz), and shut your boiler off in the summer? The gas company has a very good rebate deal. If you live in Mass.

license

@ October 17, 2007 9:37 AM in Mass Oil Burning License

Thanks for all of your inputs. I do have my Massachusetts Master Plumbing License, but how would I go about finding out where to sign up for a test to get a license in N.Y.?
