@ August 9, 2005 8:50 PM in where can I get an accurate thrermometer to measure super heat a
I have a Check-it Superheat Pyrometer - available at Graingers. It has 3 temp probes and will calculate the temp differance between any two. It has magents on the back which hold fairly well ( don't leave the weight of 3 leads on it or it will slip). Don't bother with the velco straps just get a few big spring clips and put some insulation on the inside. It also comes in a nice plastic case. It only reads to the full degree - no tenths but for superheat, subcooling, and duct temps its fine. I will have to check the probes on my thermometer, I am sure I took the readings carefully. The air handler has the TXV bulb inside the cabinet, and I was surprised to see it was not insulated. I called the rep about it and they told me thats the way it should be. Hard to argue with results like the ones I posted. The unit is rated at 15 seer. Can't wait until I learn enough about Pressure enthalpy to chart it. It was a very smart man and a great teacher who is still "learning me the AC trade" BTW - Have you chaecked your e-mail recently? Condensation
@ August 9, 2005 6:28 PM in Possible to use Attic Heat for Swimming Pool ?
I think the idea of coils connected to pool pump would make me more than a little nervous. They would be heavy, wet (condensation) and if they leaked, capaable of emptying the swimming pool into the attic. A solar collector outside the roof would not only heat the pool but cool the attic as well. I took the following readings on a new install, 2 ton 410A system. How is it performing? Any problems you see based on these readings? Indoor wet bulb 62 Indoor Dry bulb 72 Supply air (right off the air handler) 47 Return air (right at the air handler) 67 Suction line pressure 128PSIG Liquid line pressure 257PSIG Suction Line temp (at the condensor) 50 Liquid Line Temp (at the condensor) 75 Outdoor air temp 76 System has a TXV valve and the MFG calls for 11 degrees of subcooling + - 2 degrees. @ August 3, 2005 9:43 PM in has anyone used LOCTITE 55 pipe sealing cord?
Works great when properly applied - you should check the working temp, I don't think is is rec for temps above 180. To Learn More About This Professional, Click Here to Visit Their Ad in "Find A Professional"The Wall

Not all the products Buderus makes are available in the USA. The ones not available here aren't shown on the website. A few years back I had information on a heat exchanger to produce steam from their standard boilers, but to my knowledge they were never imported to the US. Metering device is over feeding the coil would have too much liquid ref in it and the the superheat would be low not high. across the evaporator and the condenser coils being correct, a superheat of 52 and a subcooling of zero I would say the system is undercharged. Locate & repair leak. Replace filter driers. Pressure test with dry nitrogen Evacuate system below 500 microns. Weigh in charge accoring to rating plate. Check superheat and delta t across the coil. How'd I do? certified for 410A, and have the gauges. We have installed and serviced 410A systems, and present information about them when customers are looking for new installations or complete replacemants. With Honeywell, Carrier, Trane pushing it and most other MFGs offering it I believe it will be the #1 system after 2010. I also think someone will develop a drop in replacement for R-22 long before the production stops completely.
