@ July 22, 2009 7:56 AM in QuietSide QXM8 Oil IssuesThanks for the reply Darrell. No big boom yet but this thing does make me nervous. I'm going to recheck all the voltage readings this afternoon and then I don't know I'ld like to at least explain to the HO the issue, but he's ready to consider his options. The thing is only about five years old, that's the rub. Peace
@ July 21, 2009 11:26 AM in QuietSide QXM8 Oil IssuesIt just accured to me to add during the last routine cleaning I found that the refactory blanket that wraps the interion of the combustion chamber had fallen over a bit impinging on the flame. The first trouble call was smoke and I thought AH HA the blanket has fallen again, but no. Any ideas?

@ July 3, 2009 10:56 PM in Mass code questionAbout an hour ago my wife drained boiling potato water down the drain. She remarked again that Martha Stewart said to add cold wter to boiling water to protect plumbing.I was wondering if the pipe makers thought of this! What is the premise of the Reg.?? Enjoy the 4th. Our very own Sarah P. quit today.

@ June 21, 2009 7:34 PM in recurculating pumpsWhy does a hydronic system have a circulating loop but a domestic loop have a recirculating loop?
@ June 21, 2009 7:15 PM in Expert WitnessesThese guys most of the time support the contractor. In 87 I was the GC on a Montessori School in Santa Monica. I happened to noticed your address, by the way. The building inspectors were all behind me with stuff, Bob Milner and Don Hershberger (I'm sure their gone). Among other projects the school at 6th. and Broadway was my problem. The place is gone.

@ June 18, 2009 11:29 AM in Crude language (Dan H.)It distracts from the goal of learning and putting it to use. Just look at Dick Cheney!
@ June 18, 2009 12:49 AM in pipe questionNow, God forbid there should ever be a question not related to heating on this site, but I'll go out on a limb.It has to do with DWV pipes. Why on the east coast of the U.S. is all the plastic DWV piping PVC and on the west coast all ABS? I've heard plenty of answers and a lot of BS. What is the real answer?
@ June 12, 2009 11:06 PM in Tax credit for BoilersIf these boilers are so great why can't they live on their merits? So I'm going to get a new 90 percent or higher, and my next door neighbor is going to help pay for it.
@ May 18, 2009 6:09 PM in MAKE UP AIRIt was either Mountain or Bell or Yourself. Regards to John.
@ April 14, 2009 11:58 PM in \"Just what, not why.\"I had a guy complain to me that he found out the funds coming from the state were taxable income. He felt betrayed.
@ April 10, 2009 10:36 PM in Taco VDT questionIt's vicoden doing talking. Take care! The tripod will fall soon. Nobody knows what that means. Watch out for those chocolate bunnies this weekend.
@ April 9, 2009 4:49 PM in Taco VDT questionI put in a 008 VDT last month. I noticed the IFC insignia. I actually called my supplier. They didn't have a clue. On the box it says optional IFC. New stuff! On a different issue I was concerned about the sensors being tricked by a indirct water heater or bypass. Should the return pipes of the space heat be on a different manifold? I was writing with Mario S. at Taco a couple of times and things just ended unanswered. Great circ. that's for sure
@ April 6, 2009 2:05 AM in Mod-cons and volcanoesRemember about 15 years ago when Redoubt blew. About a-quarter inch of ash landed here on the Turnagain arm. Never thought about the sensitivity of a a mod/con to a volcano. Bet they never tested a volcanoes effect on a boiler. The 747 that almost crashed years ago took 50 million to repair. Small change compared to if they could't restart those engines.
@ April 5, 2009 10:19 PM in Should've known better....OTWOW! So you pulled a Joe Theisman. As for your co-worker, I strongly recommend a target range practice session. Anc.
@ April 3, 2009 3:07 AM in Should've known better....OTBible thumpers on snowmachines in Alaska. I've seen them on Thompson pass near Valdez. They are nuts. My God, "You gave up booze for this"?
@ April 3, 2009 12:02 AM in Should've known better....OTIron dog has very few accidents given what there doing.
@ March 25, 2009 1:18 AM in Mothballing a boiler, literally! One - Offer them a bailout package, say a villa in the Cayman islands with cheese. Two - get a wall mounted mod/con boiler; another benefit of sealed combustion. Three - Go get a cat.
@ March 16, 2009 3:22 PM in InvestmentsThe psychology of investing is like walking through a casino. Strange thing here is that this is your house. You will spend at least half of your life in the structure. But there is always something more in need of. This conversation piece could go on forever. But not as long as that one of the buxom babe peddling those reusable pipe caps.
@ March 9, 2009 9:57 PM in Pump location on diverter tee systemprobably is inconclusive. Boilers just ten years old have manual showing on the return and tank on the other side. But it's now changing. Strange evolution here. In 1930 it was known that the tank placed on the return was beneficial. In the 60's it was actually noticed. In the 90's we finally got it.
