Maybe water treatment
@ May 31, 2012 4:06 AM in chemical cleaning of heater coil?
Running acid through a coil every year is usually not recommended, especially if the copper pits under the scale buildup, then the acid comes along, washes the scale away, and leaves a pinhole where the pitting was being sealed by the scale. My experience has been that "insufficient hot water" would be related to the outside of the coil (the part exposed to the boiler water) being dirty. "Low hot water flow" would be due to the internal part of the coil being clogged with scale.
I think you're talking about the "low flow" condition. If so, you should consider treating the service water to prevent the problem in the future rather than acidizing the coil every year.
I do water treatment work, and we install water softeners for this condition. I know there are others here who would disagree about water softeners, and maybe recommend alternative type treatment. Thats a subject for another thread, and you can research a lot of stuff on the internet, but I think that some type of treatment is preferable to acidizing yearly.
Thanks

Thanks for the responses guys. My customers only ask about using cards occasionally, but it would be nice to be able to accept them. A number of years ago I had it set up, but there was a fee for the service, a fee for leasing the machine, a fee for AmEx specifically,.......It was a pia, and expensive monthly, even if I didn't use it.I will give this a try.

Does anyone have any experience with this "Square" credit card reader for iphones and androids? Also, any comment on the ser vice itself for accepting credit cards?
Baseboard runs
@ May 11, 2012 10:06 PM in Monoflo System Compatible Radiators
don't work well in monoflow systems. The pressure drop through a baseboard run usually exceeds the pressure drop across the monoflow fitting, so you get no flow through the baseboard. You'll live on the job trying to make it work.Save yourself a lot of grief.......

Get an electric impact wrench. It will walk the anode rod right out of the heater without putting all that stress on everything. Piece of cake then. These guys

Thanks guys.So far, so good. I followed the link from Steamhead, downloaded their program, ran it, and it seems to have cleaned it up. All my programs are opening. The only problem I have is that it won't reconnect to my wireless internet. I'm trying, but haven't gotten that worked out yet.
Antivirus Help
@ May 25, 2010 10:14 AM in Antivirus Help
Good morning all,I was wondering if anyone can help me with a computer problem I'm having.
Its some kind of virus. Won't let me open anything. Each thing I try to open, it says a file is infected. It won't let me open my antivirus program. everything that pops up asking if I want to correct, block, fix, etc, takes me to an ad for an antivirus program. Even if I want to buy this program, its blocked my internet connection. After I restarted the computer once, it reconnected to the internet, took me to a website for this antivirus, but when I attempted to purchase it, it went to a page to give payment info, which wasn't a secure page. It looks really shakey. Each time I start the computer, it acts a little different in what it wlii let me do/access.
The name of the stuff they're trying to sell me is: Antispyware Soft.
So basically, I can't run my antivirus, afraid to give financial info to purchase theirs. Any ideas how I can get around this?

Thanks for the replies. What's the deal with the units having to be sent back to the manufacturers to be calibrated? How often does that have to be done? Is there a big advantage to the Bacharach that they send you new sensors instead of sending back to them?@ June 22, 2009 7:23 AM in Digital Combustion Analyzers
I'm looking into purchasing a digital combustion analyzer. The two that seem to be most popular are Bacharach and UEI. Can you guys recommend one or the other, or something else?@ April 19, 2009 12:39 AM in nissan work van

I have a homeowner on the phone with a leaking hot water tank in a System 2000, the one with the tank under the boiler. I'm trying to get him to find the cold water feed valve to shut. Does it feed into the tank, or into the circulating line? Any pictures? I'm trying to avoid a trip to his house tonight to turn it off for him.Have you checked out these cases:

Liberty Valence is a great movie. I'm a big fan of westerns, and John Wayne. Here's one of my favorite quotes from John Wayne in "The Shootist": "I won't be wronged. I won't be insulted. I won't be laid a-hand on. I don't do these things to other people, and I require the same from them."@ November 28, 2007 11:01 AM in Source for Anode Rod for Aero Hot Water Storage Tank
