Oilsbetter, Those are most likely internal flow check circulators. They have the flowchecks built right into the pump. Tacos have that as well.

Tank Alarm?

@ November 19, 2009 9:45 AM in Tank Alarm?

Has anyone ever seen or heard of a Roth oil tank gauge, that has an alarm output so that when the oil level drops below a certin point the alarm contacts will close. I know about the Scul Tel system, but it is an expensive system for just one house. This is a "summer house" and we installed a geo-thermal system with an oil boiler (Weil McLain Ultra) for back up. I can't set a K-factor for our automatic delivery because we don't how much the boiler will actually run. And this home is about 1-1/2 away from our shop, so guessing when to go could be an expensive mistake for our company. Also this is a high end home so waiting until it runs out of oil and the tempature drops is out of the question. If anybody has any ideas I would greatly appreciate it. And as always, Thank You for any input.

Hi Mike, thanks for your knowledge. I agree with the spray on insulation. This customer is all about looks! As far as advice from Econar, The engineer bought all of the products, and designed the system, we installed it. There are 3 oventrop tanks, 1 for domestic HW,thw 2nd and 3rd are for all of the radaint loops and the five air handlers. This is a closed loop system. The aquastat is set to 110 F. The first heat pump will come on and the the second then if after a 30 min call the boiler will run. One heat pump is strictly for hot water production.

My first thought was to remove the valve handles, but that still leaves the circulators. As far as dehumidifing the room, there are 2 air handlers in the mechanical room, I could cut a supply or two, to help. Thanks for the help guys!

Hi everyone, I'm looking for some help on a geo-thermal heat pump we installed. I'm looking for the best way to insulate the pipes, circulators, and valves. After the install was complete. They turned on the air condition and the pipes sweat!!! Not only do the pipes sweat, the valve handles sweat, the circulators sweat. We put armoflex on all of the pipes. Is there any way to stop the sweat? This was our first venture into geo-thermal so we are learning as we go. Thanks in advance.

SMITHFIELD SUPPLY 1 AUSTIN AVE SMITHFIELD PHONE# 1-401-949-0110 Here is where I get the parts for Valiant boilers. Hope this helps.

@ July 12, 2009 8:36 PM in 20 yr old Valiant question

Is it the supply flange or the return? They are both crosses with a flanged end. They sell parts for that boiler in Rhode Island. The place is called Smithfield Plumbing and Heating Supply. They usally have the flanges in stock in case you do break it. I can give you a phone number tomorrow when I get to the office.

Buderus w/riello call for -.02"W.C. in the breech and you own whatever it is over the fire. This is very important, With to high of a draft you get flame detatchment. And that could cause the burner to go into a recycle. Go on Buderus.com and download the manual and start back at the origanal settings. Good luck.
