@ July 12, 2013 11:37 AM in residential chilled water systemsNear the Albany, NY area we are selling a lot of 3 and 5 ton reverse cycle chillers for the high end residential market. It started when a homeowner didn't want to see the condensers next to the home. We asked where would you like them and they said out of sight over a bank. We ended up selling 2-5 ton Spacepak Chillers and put them 90 feet from the house. Since then, we've sold 14 more and up to 200' away from the home. Very effecient, quiet, green, and excellent factory support by the reps and manufacturer personell. We're working out a few small bugs like the condensation around the pumps ect; in the mechanical room, but for the most part it is a great system.
@ July 12, 2013 11:18 AM in residential chilled water systemswas wondering what you guys are doing about the condensation on the circulators of residential chiller jobs.
@ June 19, 2013 8:23 AM in unico vs spacepak heat pumpWere having a huge success in the Albany NY area with these systems on residential high end jobs. Anything from one unit to two tied together and just got one with six 5 ton chillers for a high end house in the Catskill's. Spacepak factory support has been a huge advantage in selling these and the fact that they are close to us and go out of their way to help.

@ December 23, 2012 7:27 AM in HIGH HEAD CIRCULATORwe ried them but too noisy. Had the rep there and he agreed plus he said these pumps dont like additives like anti freeze. We're going to use the B/G PL55's
@ December 21, 2012 6:50 AM in HIGH HEAD CIRCULATORI'M IN NEED OF A PUMP FOR A AIR TO WATER CHILLER. MY NEEDS ARE 45' HEAD AND 15 GPM. FLANGE TO FLANGE NEEDS TO BE 6.5" AS STANDARD. I'VE TRIED TACO 2400-50 BUT THEY WONT WORK FOR ME. ANY SUGGESTIONS?
@ February 7, 2012 6:12 AM in Re-pipe return linesis it ok to use galvanized pipe for return lines? And is there a transition fitting I should use from black iron or copper tube?
@ February 6, 2012 2:01 PM in Gypcrete, Warmboard, Quik Trak... Which should I choosewhere can a contractor buy lightweight cement or gypcrete?
@ February 6, 2012 9:36 AM in Ridiculous header of the weekI have a customer that has a bunch of galvanized pipe that he wants to use on a condensate line. Is that going to be a problem?
@ April 3, 2008 7:01 AM in multiple boiler vs single boiler replacement paybackdoes anyone have a formula to show a building owner an approx.payback if he replaces his 800k btu gas boiler with multiple boilers? He's getting prices on a replacement and prices on 2 and 3 with a lead lag approach. The old boiler was a chimney vent boiler and the new ones will be s/s direct vent. Currently the nat.gas bills are 7k per month.
@ April 3, 2008 6:33 AM in Hot water zone off steam boilerdid you use tappings in the boiler on opposite sides, one high and one low? The water must pass across the boiler to pick up temperature or you will continue to get the cooler water across the bottom of the boiler.
@ April 3, 2008 6:29 AM in wood boiler tempWhy are you trying to keep the oil boiler at 180 degrees?

@ October 19, 2007 7:21 AM in controlling 2-mod cons w/3 tempsdesinging a system for a 12k sq.ft.home with 6k slab,6k staple up and 2-HI-V heating cooling air handlers. Using 2-Buderus GB's tied together with a large indirect for domestic. Trying to come up with the best way to control this system and achieve the most effeciency. Any thoughts?
@ October 7, 2007 7:50 AM in Watts onyx tubingHey Mark, dont know where you heard this but it isn't true. I've sold miles of it and never a problem.
@ September 28, 2007 8:01 PM in How to determine boiler size.Go with the 115-21 and the S120. Plenty of hot water! On priority it should only take 10-15 minutes. Besides if the family expands or they take longer showers, you can crank up the aquastat and install a tempering valve and get another 1/3 capacity out of the same tank. Good luck!
@ September 28, 2007 7:28 PM in Great Oil Fired BoilerTake a look at the Trio. It is a Solia. Weighs in at 300 lbs. for a 3 section. Priced right and has an option for an energy manager. Combine this with the "plug n go" indirect and you have a nice package.
@ September 28, 2007 7:10 PM in Heating systemsBUDERUS GB142 WALL HUNG BOILER WITH ALMOST ANY INDIRECT. THE PUREPRO INDIRECT "PLUG N GO" OR "PIPE N GO" IS A GOOD CHOICE BOTH HAVE A DUAL S/S COIL AND THEY ARE PRICED RIGHT AND THE COIL CAN BE INSPECTED, CLEANED OR REPLACED IF NECESSARY.
@ December 11, 2005 9:01 AM in Left over Pexdepending on what make it is, you can use it for potable water piping. Watts Radiant Pex is one of those brands.

@ December 9, 2005 9:48 AM in sofisticated heating/cooling controlsI have a customer with a very high end heating/cooling system and the owner does not want to see thermostats.I don't think money is an issue here so I'm searching for the best solution. There are several zones of radiant along with (7) var.speed ADP air handlers for cooling and suplemental heat. I went online and saw some descrete room sensors that blend in with the wall(about the size of a quarter)from SMARTHOUSE. This product can be bought direct, but I was looking to sell something to the customer. Any of you guy's ever use something like this? I don't think the Tekmar TN4 has these sensors. Thanks!!
