@ September 16, 2008 6:47 AM in Safety glasses
Just a reminder to all that safety glasses are made for looks. Recently I was installing a boiler, cutting the old piping away and It happened. The pipe slipped and went through my eye. You can only imagine how that can change your life, Probably going to have to get out of the business. WEAR GLASSES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!taco mixing block

I'm a heating contractor , that is also building my own house and I've a couple questions for you all. My house is 2500 sq feet, all radiant. I'm using a taco mixing block with built in reset. Can I , Should I , also put a reset on the boiler( probably a viessman)?? 2nd question-constant velocity well pumps? will 1" mains with 1/2 " takeoffs be better than 3/4 " and 1/2 TO's ? Piping will be all aquapex. kitchen , 2 full baths , one with 2 valved shower.still stumped

i took over an account 3 years ago. Apartment building with a (new 2-3years old )New yorker Micro3 boiler.I sooted up every January ( cleaned in the summer) since the install. First year I had the account, told the landlord, I'd make sure everything was set right, wouldn't happen again. 1)New yorker micro 3 2)cold basement, 2 pipe system (didn't like that, haven't changed it yet) 3) oil tank is in unheated basement 4)afg with L head 5) 3 3/8 static plate 6) fired at .85x 60 B Pump at 140 7) ss1 powervent Help, I've been through the burner with a fine tooth comb tests 9.5co, 450 stack, o smoke, -04,-02 draft. z dim is 1 3/8" sooted again this morning at 2:00 am. could not get a good flame with the .85 nozzle this morning (tried 3 nozzles) I put a .75 in and it came back with good tests. I have been over this burner soo many times, ports on head are clean. Can it be cold oil with the 2 pipes??????? central maine is cold ???????????????????????????????????tstat

you need an isolation relay, simple cube relay will work, isolate the 24 voltsfirst Munchkin install

I live in the NE where most everything is oil.I had a customer who wanted gas, so I tried the Munchkin. Wow! Couldn't even tell it was running, until the cat stopped purring , then you could hear it.service

I think it's a good merger. They can tune up the Murry riding mower after they install the boiler.Or maybe before they start the boiler, then the HO will have something to do instead of helping with the install.t-stat
@ October 24, 2004 6:48 AM in Is my thermostat defective?
the t-stat does not control the firing of the boiler, it controls the circulator, other controls start and stop the boiler. some diditals do have anticipater settings but not all.this setting shuts down the circ, early anticipating that the latent heat from the bb will heat to the set point temp. on digitals it's in degrees not amps. usually 1-2 degrees. if its not even coming to temp, sounds like another problem, not enpough bb, air in system, setting problem on boiler water temp,......coil

I had the same situation with them about 2 years ago.Tank was installed 5 years and 2 months, leaking through the jacket, not near a fitting. was in an apartment, amtrol said it was warrenteed for only 5 years , being "comercial" replaced it with a superstore. and have ONLY installed superstores ever since.Great heater, never a problem with one. When Amtrol put a line in tyhe orange box store, they lost their integretyridgid 1822

I have a chance to buy a ridgid 1822, nipple adapter, stand , all chucks including stainless chucks for $2000. is this a good deal?oil line
@ August 30, 2004 4:42 AM in Oil Tank, please advise
the pump that you have will suck the oilthrough the oil line. the line terminates in the tank probable 4" from the bottom. the fittings have to be leak free so as not to get air bound. common practice for many around here. Not me , though. dispite what the pump manufacterers say, the pumps don't last as long, I've hade to change many more pumps with overhead lines than not. It probably doesn't have a filter does it?Glen Stanton

Thanks for the help last week on the Opus . Worked perfect. BUT....I am not just a parts changer . I need to know what the problem was and how did you fix it? Just for my own peace of mind... Thanks again FrankBurnham OPUS
@ August 2, 2004 7:38 AM in Burnham OPUS
I installed an oil fired Burnham opus last year. Radiant, domestic, reset, and a power vent. I had no choice on the vent. A great boiler. HO is very pleased, with one exception.... When boiler is running and power is interupted, the boiler wont restart. the green light flshes ( not on control, but boiler itself.) Need to turn power off then back on and it starts. I contacted burnham , techs didn't know, had me call one of their engineers, he never called back. It's in the computer, but how can I get it to reset itself??? First time HO noticed it was on a power failure. I was the the other day, started boiler, and tripped the breaker, and he was right. it didn't come back on. The green light flashed one flash at a time.did you use nitrogen

chances are it's a delta faucet right?souds like you need new guts to it.@ January 8, 2004 5:51 AM in Hot water heating system problems
The x tank does need to be replaced as well as the relief. I would also at the same time put on new air vents and check to make sure the pressue valve is not seeping past the set point.am I crazy?
@ December 29, 2003 6:53 AM in Having an audience while you work
I like the calls where there is an odd problem that only happens "once in a blue moon".I had this lady tell me a long lenghthy story of how the boiler would go off on resetbut only when "it was 15 degrees out and when she was doing laundry, thta's the only time it does it" she insisted. then she asked me if she was crazy. I siad I don't know , I'm only here to fix the boiler.
